Holey Moley! I don't have Gestational Diabetes!
I am so surprised and excited and relieved right now!
I just got the call from my OB's office! They have the results from my 3-hour Glucose Tolerance Test and I passed with flying colors!
I had GD with my first pregnancy and ended up with a 9lb 10 oz baby, so I was convinced that I'd have GD with this pregnancy as well. I read that once you've had it with one pregnancy you increase your odds of having it with subsequent pregnancies by 80%...so I was really convinced!
Anyway...I passed with flying colors! They actually told me all of my numbers (since I asked) and told me that I need to make sure that I eat every 2 hours because my numbers were on the low range of normal or just below the normal range!
Fasting Blood sugar (they like under 95) was 73.
1 hour (they like under 180) was 117
2 hours (they like under 155) was 110
3 hours (they like under 140) was 63!
The nurse thought I was crazy because I asked if the doctor would write me a prescription for test strips anyway. I have my old meter, put new batteries in it, but need strips. I feel like since I had GD with my 1st pregnancy, that I should be monitoring my blood sugar. She thought it was unnecessary but she said she'd mention it to the doctor!
I have to say that I think the only reason why I passed is because I have lost so much weight and have changed my eating habits and activity levels so much. Before getting pregnant this time I lost 157 lbs, following weight watchers, and I have become so much more active! I don't think I would have passed if I hadn't done all of this!
Just had to share because I'm so excited!

Thank you Taryn. I still have a long way to go. I have about 80 lbs to lose after I have the baby. But I have kept up with walking and tracking my food throughout the pregnancy and I am confident that I have it in me to get there!

That is great news!!! I just went for my 3 hour test today, and I'm hoping for the same results. I actually had the opposite then you. I didn't have GD with my first pregnancy. This pregnancy I have had issues early on.

Wow! Go Melissa!! Too bad I won't have a GD buddy!  But in all seriousness, the weight loss is huge and many congrats on that!!
I got my numbers too .... and I was actually surprised I "failed" and was listed as having GD. I had a great fasting # (81), and my 1-hour and 2-hour were about 10 pts over the range, but my 3-hour number was only 92.
Anyway, I've been testing after every meal since Friday... Not really altering my diet per say, just watching how much I eat (smaller portions, more often). And my highest number has been 108, where as I have to be in the range of 80-120 after meals. I average about 85 after each meal with that one exception.
It's all good though. I got enough test strips to last me a year!!

Hey --- we can still be GD buddies if you want! I had my doc call me back. I feel like since I have a prior history of GD...and just knowing my eating habits, I still want to follow the GD diet and monitor my blood sugar for the rest of the pregnancy. I have 13 weeks left...really a small thing compaired to feeling more assured that you are doing the right thing for your baby.
And while he said that he doesn't think it's entirely necessary since my numbers were good, he is on board with this, just because it is a healthy way of eating.
So he called in a script for the strips for me. I have to get a new meter which is $20 but insurance covers the contour meter's strips so they are available to pick up right now. So I will be monitoring my BS from here on in and we can still chat about it if you ever want to!
I just know my issues with food and my eating habits. I don't want passing the test to turn into a "free for all." I need to track my food and have some sort of structure in place, so this gives it to me.

That's wonderful news!!! I had GD with pregnancy #1 and ended up having it again this time around too but it's very encouraging to hear about someone that didn't end up having it with a subsequent pregnancy. Hopefully with #3 I'll be GD-free too 
What a great accomplishment with the weight loss too, you should be very proud of yourself, that's amazing!!!!
