I don't get it? I am watching it for the first time and not finding it funny. What am I missing?

It's one of those movies that the second time you watch, you catch more stuff. It's just a cute Christmas movie. It's not vulgar funny like the Hangover or anything like that.

I think it's either your type of humor or it isn't-- I find it very funny (although cheesy, especially the ending)-- but I do laugh a lot when I watch it.
Reminds me of a friend of mine who didn't find the show "Seinfeld" funny at all, but thought "Friends" was hysterical. I was the opposite-- thought "Seinfeld" was hilarious but "Friends" wasn't all that funny to me (though I liked it anyway). Just a different sense of humor.

i agree. you'll catch a lot more the second time around. my favorite scene is when he puts the star on the top of the tree inside the apartment. makes me laugh, every time!

I KNOW!
We had a birthday party yesterday and I put it on for some festive background noise during it. Everyone ended up sitting down and watching it! From ages 1 to 70, everyone was CRACKING up. . .love it!
I even said how great it was that they can still make a Christmas movie that will definitely become a classic - we will still definitely be watching it in 20 years!

I hate Will Ferrell but THAT movie works for me. I hate all his other movies.

I adore everything about Will Ferrell. I think he is one of the greatest character actors that SNL ever had!!
I LOVE Elf. We watch the movie anytime it's on TV and usually pop it in on thanksgiving when i'm hosting.
We actually had a drinking game to it 2 years ago, lol. Everyone drank whenever the words "Christmas, sugar, syrup and candy" was said. We were all pretty wasted lol EVEN my mom!

The more I watch Elf, the more I love it!!! I love the part where he sprays the perfume in his mouth, haha!
Even my 5 year old quotes this movie! When she saw a fake santa out in the store one day, she turned to me and DH and said, "You're not Santa! You smell like beef and cheese!"

OMG This is one of my favorite Christmas movies ever. One of my favorite parts is when he's scared of the radiator... I could watch this movie 100 times and it doesn't get old.

I guess it is because I really dont like Will Ferrell and dont find most of his stuff funny
