How old was your DC when he/she started eating on their own using fork and spoon?

I am just trying to get an idea of what age.

DD can feed herself with a spoon- it's messy but she won't allow me to spoon feed her anymore.
She started around 12 months- but really got the hang of it much better around 15 months I'd say.
Same with the fork.

Around 15 months DS started trying with the spoon. Hes ok at it now, hes 17.5 months, but still makes a mess. He ate his first bowl of spaghetti by himself with a fork the other day and did so well.

I started a little bit before a year old and now at 16m DD can feed herself anything with a spoon or fork (although I will help her along still LOL I dont have the patience)

Since 11 months, he would no longer let us feed him at all!

We introduced a spoon as soon as she started on solid food. At 12 mon she had the idea, but she is just now actually eating and not spilling at all. She is 23 months. At 12 mon, when she was on all regular food, I introduced the right utensil for the right food so she does really well now.

They have been playing for a while but now at 16 months they have the hang of it. I cant evern remember the age of my first dc when he started.

He started playing with a spoon/fork around 15 or 16 months. At that point he knew the concept of dipping it in the food and then in his mouth, but couldn't actually GET the food.

At 19 months he started getting some food on his spoon or fork. at 20 months he got really good at it.

He's been eating on his own since about 15 months (usually with his hands, but trying with utensils).

DD is 13months and just started showing interest in using a fork/spoon. I try and let her do it on her own but its just such a mess she just jabs at the food then gives up and uses her hands!! lol Im hoping in the next couple of months she gets the hang of it.

I think 18 mths she was regularly using utensils.

DD#1 was using utensils correctly with almost no mess by 18 months.

DD#2 wants nothing to do with utensils. She'll fool around with them and then throw them off her tray. We keep trying but as of now she wants nothing to do with them. She's 21mos.

DS is 8 months and eats with a spoon. Its messy but he gets it. We first gave him a spoon the first time he ever tried solids at 5.5 months. He knew to put it in his mouth (even though he had never eaten with a spoon before) but at that age needed us to put the food on the spoon for him. I personally don't believe in spoon feeding my kids so I gave it to him and let him give it a shot.
