Do you leave candy out at your house when YOU are trick or treating?
I do. I leave a little sign and some giant bowls of candy.
I do wonder if it may attract someone to break into my house? Knowing I may not be home?
But I feel bad for the kiddies coming to my home, knocking on my door and... nothing LOL
I do wonder if some kids take armfulls instead of handfulls,but oh well.
What do you do?

Nope.i dont like to advertise, when I am or am not home. If they want to try back they can, but no notes saying "out trick or treating" its like the FB check ins. Hi, Im not home, Im shopping at the mall come rob my house. No thanks.

Nope. My sister tried that one year when she ran to the supermarket for a gallon of milk. She came back 20 minutes later to find the GIANT bowl completely empty. I'm a teacher...I know better than to trust most kids.

Yes I do. I'm never that far from my house while trick or treating and haven't had a problem with an empty bowl yet upon returning. I'll do it again this year!

I don't leave a note, but we do sometimes leave the bowl outside - when we are out trick or treating and when we are eating dinner and don't want to be disturbed. I've never had a huge problem.

I used to for a few years. Last year I left out lollipops. I came home and all the lollipop sticks were cut off of the candy and dumped all over my stoop.
Never again.

This same thing happened to me a few years ago, I was livid! I half expected some teenagers to dump the bowl's contents into their bag thinking they're really funny but I never thought someone would be so rude as to take the freggin bowl itself. It wasn't anything fancy but it was a fairly nice stainless steel mixing bowl that I did not appreciate having stolen. Can you tell I'm still not over this?

Last year we just went a few houses down but left a little bit of candy in a bowl. We saw a few groups of kids come and go. When we got back there was candy in it - but it was old candy - like the kids had gotten crap from somewhere and took our good stuff and switched it with expired stuff.
If we go out this year we'll probably just leave some out.

That's why I hate foursquare, or checking in on FB. I don't need the kid I know from high school but haven't seen in over 10 years to know where I am.

I wouldn't. Our block is very quiet. If we get 10 trick or treaters it's a lot. But even if we were on a busy block, I wouldn't. I know kids would just take a bunch. It reminds me of that commercial with the kid standing by the bowl debating whether to take a second piece of candy since there is a sign that says "Please take one." Then a little girl dressed like a fairy or a princess or something comesup and scoops handfuls into her trick or treat bag. The kid looks at her and says "It says only take one!" The girl shrugs and says "I can't read." and skips off. I tried finding it online, but couldn't.

I have and I will. I live in a fairly small, gated community. Al the kids trick or treat with their parents. If no one left out the candy, there would be no candy at all since we are all out trick or treating at the same time!

I lmao at this commercial when I 1st saw it!!! Especially since the kid was Batman and really trying to do the "superhero" thing!

We live in an apt. I leave a bag of Halloween toys outside with a note for kids to take and enjoy. We march in the parade in the village, so we're never home later on in the night.

The last 3 years I have and no one follows my note. Last year I saw the teenager dump my whole bowl into his sack. That idiot ruined it for me. No more candy left out now!

I dont but on the other end of it,
we have encountered the houses that have left bowls of candy out and most are nice, with a small note, "please take one", and we do.
We hit a bunch of houses that had that and all had candy still in the bowls.
