Seven Ponds Orchards- wasn't impressed this year
So we go every year to seven ponds orchards for apple picking in Water Mill.
Well this year we werent that impressed.
There were hardly any rows of trees to pick from. Maybe 2-3.
And many of the apples on those rows were rotten, covered with bees and on the floor.
Their farm stand where they usually have tons of great home made goodies was bare.
And now they charge for ADULTS to enter to playgroud. I mean that is crazy if you ask me.
Everyone is $7.00 to enter the playground. Even the parents. Its bad enough they charge for the kids but for the adults, i think that is a little crazy.
So next year we will be finding somewhere else to go.

Someone was saying it had to do with Hurricane Irene.

We go up to Lawrence farms in Newburgh.
There also wasn't many quality apples. They have many many varieties and the kind that has been ripe for 2 weeks now were so picked over and the rest were rotten. It seems like the crop is small so if you want anything its best to go early.

The weather caused problems for a lot of crops this year and there was a lot of disease. My neighbor is a manager of a winery and they lost a ton of grapes...

There is also a pumpkin shortage b.c of weather, so I'm sure pumpkin prices will be insane.

I complained about them charging last year - Its plain ridiculous to charge adults. Total rip off. We go to hanks for the kids to play and to get pumpkins and halsey farm for the apple picking...dont know how their apples are this year though.
Sorry it was not a good trip for you guys.

Go to milk pail in watermill. they had tons of apples. No issues at all except some of our favorite varieties weren't ready yet. We may go back in another two weeks.
