What age do you stop having them sit in the shopping cart?

What age is to old to sit in the grocery cart?

Sometimes I let DD (almost 4) walk with me when the store isn't crowded. Sometimes she likes to sit in the special carts that have the car attachment and "Drive".

Today, as I usually do for quick trips I asked her to sit up in the top of a regular cart and she said,"Mommy that is for babies". She was willing after I said it was a quick trip and the store was too crowded for her to walk today but it got me thinking. How much longer do I have with her contained in the cart?

Hey Patti; Gracie is always fighting me to sit in the front of the cart & Jack tells her, "baby, baby".

When daddy is with us he makes Gracie walk & Jack sits up front (or we take 2 carts).

I'd say 4 though as they can follow directions & aren't going to jet & can be a helper.

DD is going to be 3 and I am going to try to keep her in there as long as possible. If it is a quick trip sometimes I do let her walk but if I am going to be in the store for a while, I make her sit.

My daughter will be 5 in 15 days and she sometimes still sits in it.

Megan will be 5 soon and I dont think she has sat in a cart since she was like 3. Sometimes she likes to go in the big section but she wants to get out like 5 minutes after. She HATED sitting in those things.
