silly pedicure question
I know the massage during a pedi can bring on labor at the end but is it something I need to worry about now?

Re: silly pedicure question
I have asked both my doctors, they are fine.
I have had one pretty much every week, and I am 28 weeks along.
Enjoy !

Re: silly pedicure question
ive gotten pedis throughout my whole pregnancy with no problems. they usually ask if i want the extra 10 min massage and i say no to that, but the regular massage they do is fine for me.

Re: silly pedicure question
Dont think so. Ive been getting them. I think it's only when they massage by your ankle that can trigger labor, so you can tell them to avoid that. Ive been getting them with the massage and no problems.

Re: silly pedicure question
I've been going every 3 or 4 weeks my whole pregnancy. Especially now at the end that my feet are all sore and swollen, it feels soooooo good.
I did notice though that if I go for the extra massage that baby is really quiet for hours afterwards... I wonder if she's just blissed out from the endorphins I'm getting? I know I am.
Oh, and P.S. - I'm so happy to see you on this board!!!

Re: silly pedicure question
No... it does NOT trigger labor. Some points are considered "descending point" in Traditional Chinese Medecine. They are located in the ankles. A few more point should be avoided on the top of the foot.
One thing to remember is that you need "intent" and "hold" the point for a while for it to work.
IT'S NOT.. you rub the area for 2 seconds and you go into labor.
If it was that easy everyone would have a pedicure instead of pitocin to trigger labor.
Go enjoy your pedicure!
