How would you feel about DH traveling to Europe 3-4 weeks before due date?

I'm due January 9th with our second DC. DD will be 2.5 yrs old. DH has an annual trip to Europe in mid December for an important client event, he'd come home on the 12th and would be gone for about 5 days.

I personally felt it was cutting it too close to my due date but wanted to get other opinions in case I'm being unreasonable. He is OK with not going but I know his client will NOT be happy. He'd send someone else in his place, though not as seasoned as he is as he's been handling the event solo for the past 7 years.

Is 3.5 weeks from due date too close to have DH overseas? Also keep in mind I will have a toddler to take care of being 9 months pregnant. However, my parents live 2 minutes away and I know would help out a lot.

Mine traveled recently and I think I was 30 something weeks.I wasn't happy but didn't think it was likely to happen while he was gone.

As for him leaving you to care for your toddler, lean on you parents if you can.

Is there any reason to think you could go three or four weeks early?

I think it would depend on how the pregnancy was going for me to be ok or not. With DS I was on bed rest so I would not have been ok. With DD her pregnancy was much easier. Could your mom come and stay with you for the few days he is gone? I would not have been happy, but if I had someone else there with me I would be ok.

I think it's a little close. If he didn't have to go & he doesn't mind skipping the trip, I think it would be a good idea - that's just me

If you've had any issues with going a little early then I wouldn't be happy. I'd have your doctor check your cervix and everything before he goes to make sure you'll be alright.

That wouldn't happen over here. My luck, something will happen when he's away. Once you're full term, anything can happen at any time. Likely? Prob not, but IMHO, I wouldn't chance it.

I would ask him to be home for you.

I would def say thats cutting it a little close.
I would ask him to stay home...even if your parents are around for your little one....If you go into labor he wont be there. That would bother me!

I really think that is cutting it close to your due date, especially that it is a trip out of the country!
There are so many girls on here who are going earlier then their due dates & its pretty nerve wrecking, especially since you have a little one to take care of already.

I would be fine with it, for work, it's not like it's a bachelor party or anything like that. Since you have your parents nearby and you mentioned they would help out, I'd have no problem with it imo. I'd just feel bad if he did miss the birth of DC#2

Since Logan came 4 weeks early, I'd say it's too close!
