Traveling 3 weeks prior to due date?

Obviously depending on how things are going at that time, but do you think traveling out of state for a wedding at that point in PG would be nuts? I'd be going from NC to NY. I'd probably have to fly on one of the planes with no restrictions for PG women. My DH Godparents daughter (VERY close to family) is getting married 11/13 and I'm due 12/3. I most likely won't be feeling up to it by then since I'll be all swollen. LOL! I just thought I'd ask. Chat Icon

Personally, I wouldn't do it. I know it's hard when it's someone close like that though. Chat Icon

Yeah, that's what I thought. I just really wanted to go since weddings are romantic to me, and nice to share with your DH. I just didn't want him to go without me. Chat Icon But, I'm pretty sure he's going to be going anyway. Thanks!

Can you even fly then? I am due 12/1 and my doc had me cancel my trip to Italy on 9/18.. granted that is an international flight so very different..

Honestly I wouldn't even feel comfortable with DH going on his own. What if you went into labor early and he couldn't get back in time for the birth?

If it was a car ride (like 4 hours or less), I'd say go for it. NC --->NY = far!
I would stay home!

Re: Traveling 3 weeks prior to due date?

I can't imagine that there is an airline out there that would allow you to fly at 37 weeks - it's just too much of a liability.

I would definitely be staying home (and so would DH)!

I would not do it...you could be in labor by that time. I wouldn't risk it, stay home and try to be as comfy as possible. Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Traveling 3 weeks prior to due date?

We have a wedding in NY about a month before my due date, so I would be taking the same NC to NY trip. We have already decided that this would not be a good idea for us and told our friends we won't be going.

My OB was pizzed that I was traveling from Staten Island to Long Island for my shower at 37 weeks, so I'd say negative there.

I was supposed to come up to NY from Northern V.A at 35 weeks for my shower but my dr. said no way so we had to switch the date. They don't want me traveling past 32 weeks but I do have to come to LI for a wedding at 33 weeks....shhhhhh

I'm just under 3 weeks prior to my due date and there is no way you could get me to travel! this pregnancy has been much harder on my body and i forgot how worn down you get at the end.

Re: Traveling 3 weeks prior to due date?

The airlines don't normally allow anyone over 32 weeks to travel and from what I've been told, they do ask when they see a pregnant woman. I'd double check with your OB and with the airline you're flying with to see what they all say.

Re: Traveling 3 weeks prior to due date?

With DS I was on strict bed rest by 32 weeks. There would be no way I would want my DH to go out of state 3 weeks before I was due to deliver. I am sorry I would decline for both of you.

Nope... I wouldn't risk it and I KNOW that my Drs would not be happy about it (and they are VERY laid back Drs.).

Re: Traveling 3 weeks prior to due date?

I think the latest any airline will allow you to fly is 36 weeks. I'm almost 37 weeks now and you couldn't PAY me to get on an airplane - I can barely stand being in the car for 15 minutes!

So I absolutely wouldn't even consider it if it were me! I also wouldn't want DH going in case you go into labor early.

Re: Traveling 3 weeks prior to due date?

No, I wouldn't think that's a good idea. During the last month, my OB didn't want me to be more than an hour away from home.
