Car Seat spinoff
What do you do if you have leather seats? I thought the seat protectors were a no no. Are towels okay?

Re: Car Seat spinoff
I would think with leather seats you have more of a reason not to need a seat protector, no?

Re: Car Seat spinoff
I have leather/suede(?) and we have nothing. There are indents, but I honestly don't care. They never come out and I figure they will be in there until the kids are old enough not to need them or we switch cars. I would assume the no-no is that it could cause the car seat to not be as secure and could slide in an accident.

Re: Car Seat spinoff
See I heard they rip up leather seats and slide around on them. But then I also heard the installation techs don't want you to have any add ons. Hmmm

If they are sliding around, then they are not installed properly.

That makes sense, this is just what I've heard. I found this on car- safety .org
My carseat is tight, but I'm worried that it might gouge the fabric or leather in my car. What can I do?
Unfortunately, a good installation does put pressure on your vehicle's interior fabric. You may put a THIN towel or mat under your carseat to prevent gouges. You must NOT put thick towels or any compressible material under a forward-facing carseat, as this can reduce the safety of your installation.
I guess I'll see what the installation tech has to say.

Re: Car Seat spinoff
DH has leather seats and no protectors...no problems (although they aren't in his car as much)

Re: Car Seat spinoff
If you have the carseat locks that newer cars have, why is it bad to have a set protector?

Tests have shown that anything used that was purchased after market along with a car seat relating to a car seat makes it not as safe. This is open for wide opinions and variations of course. Some include the shoulder straps, the inserts, the mirrors; basically ANYTHING added after market.
