CVS today
WOW what an emotional day. First we met with the genetic counselor to discuss our possible outcomes with my pregnancy. I'm so scared something will be wrong. I have a balanced reciprocal translocation. Well the procedure only took less than a minute but WOW it was so uncomfortable. The staff at NSLIJ was great. They worked me through it and relaxed me. DH even came in the room with me and held my hand the whole time.
For those looking into having this here was my experience. Oh and thanks so much to the ladies I FM'd and their helpful details.
First I got to see my LO on the screen again. OMG it actually looks like a baby now. He/She was waving and bouncing around in there. They think maybe it had the hiccups. It was so cute. Heard and saw the strong heartbeat again. The Dr came in, took a look at the sono and decided to go in through the abdomin. The needle wasn't so bad. It was the suction and the scraping trying to collect the cells that really got to me. I didnt flinch or seem like I was in pain until it was over. They said she got a really good sample. It was definatley an uncomfortable feeling but if I HAD to do it again, I would. It really didnt last long nor did the cramping. Dr told me to relax all day and to not even cook dinner! DH is getting us take out! He has been so good to me with this whole thing. I have been an emotional wreck. Everything makes me cry but we are dealing with this and having positive thoughts only.
Sorry this is long but I really wanted to share you girls who are going to be getting this done.

wow that sounds scary. I'm very new to this but can I ask why you had to go for that test? does everyone go for it? hope your felling good tonight and you get really great results!

I have a chromosomal abnormality. It is very possible that my baby will have the same. If it's the same as me, no problem, but if it's a bad set of genes it got from me, the results can be very bad. I can miscarry at anytime during my pregnancy and the baby may be born with severe birth defects and most likley wont live very long. We met with a genetic counselor to go over all of the possible outcomes. This test is testing the chorionic cells to make sure they are normal. Not everyone gets this. don't worry.
