Organic all the way, usually Stonyfield Farms or from Costco
Really doesn't cost much more when you have a coupon or get the 3 pack from Costco.

I let the scientist debate and weigh in on this one.
we are organic with milk. there is just too much science out there with scary results, and I have a BOY. if I had a girl, FORGET IT.
and the argument that we are fine is really not much of an argument, considering cancer is striking younger and younger people every day.
sure some people are lucky and will never be touched.
I am not willing to risk it on luck, especially since my exposure before i knew any better leaves me at risk anyway.
I don't get the whole "clapping" b/c you use regular milk...like really, what is that???? Is anyone clapping for those who use organic?
this is not a competition. it's science and facts and health.
ETA: before I am misunderstood, I don't believe that anyone loves their child any less or more. I think there is a certain disbelief with regards to things like this which really fuel these debates. nothing more.

We used organic milk at first without discussing it with the Ped. Once I mentioned it to the Ped he lol. He said hormone free is one thing. Organic is another. I can read all I want on the internet, newspapers, studies whatever I want to do but his opinion is as long as it is hormone free then that is fine. Organic is more of ploy and a money maker in his opinion. Now, I don’t use many organic products. I use hormone free for dairy as much as I can. For fruits and veggies some I choose organic – the one ones on the top 12 list especially.

FTR, my was to a mother who stands by her decision, not even the popular decision.
it was not about organic or non-organic but about being confident in parenting technique. i think a LOT of women on this thread could take a page out of that mother's book.

I will say this....once people got wind of all of these potential harmful effects of growth hormones and antibiotics and switched to organic, most milk companies started producing at the very least, hormone free milk which is HUGE.
that is what will keep our little girls little girls for a longer period.
No one should be made to feel badly for their choices. but to just blindly say "this is how I do and I don't care what you say" is just....I mean, what is that???
this is what I don't understand.
if someone came to me and said, "o, the amount of olives Luce eats is bad for xyz" I'd say "oh my, I didn't know that" and look it up. I wouldnt just say " well too bad. I eat 60 lbs of olives day and I am fine" b/c that serves NO ONE. least of all my son.

I dont give my kid milk. He doesnt drink it.

But I think Jess has a great point.. isn't this site around to learn from eachother as well?
but I think the problem comes from when people are judgmental about their choices...."why wouldn't you" mentallity is what is killing LIF and feeding into the "woman" stereo type".
Here is the information I found..take it for what it's worth...if you agree great..if not..thats fine too.. but we need to arm EACHOTHER with as much information as possible to HELP eachother be informed mothers!

and I agree with Jenn that it gets tiring to constantly be questioned about your choices, but where does that leave us as a parenting board...
so many interesting and helpful topics are too controversial to talk about...and to me that is the least helpful thing.

Ds gets regular hormone free milk. We can't afford the organic b/c in my neighborhood of brooklyn organic milk isn't 1-2 dollars more its twice as much of reg. milk.
I also fed DS generic formula as an infant b/c I (a) didn't produce breast milk and (b) my ped said it was EXACTLY the same as the name brands at half the price.
so I guess I should be strung up and burned at the stake.
Why do we all have to pass judgement on each other? You parent your way and we'll parent our way. There is a study to back up nearly every side of any argument. Its disgraceful that we have all play the "one-upmanship" game. If we are doing this over milk, formula, etc. what are we teaching our children?
Its one thing to believe in what you are doing. Its another to make another person feel bad b/c they don't or can't parent the same way as you.
Very sad.

This is interesting, thanks for sharing! I dont have to buy milk yet but I assumed organic was ALSO hormone free!

I just want to be clear that I was NOT judging anyone's decision or choices, I was ONLY commenting on the stances some take on this thread, and I will say that ON BOTH sides.
everyone has their reasons for doing everything. with the exlusions of the hormones, organic milk is more of a luxury for the grass fed side of it.
the real crux is that we have to go into HOCK to feed our kids.
that the products marketed as the best and least processed are soo very costly.
I always say I never judge the person, my outrage is directed towards these companies that have the biggest NERVE EVER putting this stuff into our livestock, onto our produce and into the environment.
it's all related. it effects us all. and they are making a PROFIT.
that disgusts me. and that is where my passion stems from.
I apologize if *I* made anyone feel badly. totally not my intention.

Hunh really? I find that unbelievable that a Dr would steer you away from giving your child milk free from pesticides Especialy when you were already buying it.
As to the OP-I give my kids organic milk. I have to buy about 4 gallons a week between regular and soy for my sairy allergic son. I also buy all their meat at whole foods(not necessarily organic but animal welfare rated and grass fed) and they mostly eat organic fruits and veggies. I would say 95% of their diet is organic.
