I had my BIG boy!
I had my BIG boy one day before my due date on May 31st.
9lb 13oz.
21.75 Inches
3:45pm
I was scheduled for a c-section on June 2nd. One day after my due date.
I had a growth sono on the 23rd of May
and he measured 9lbs. so my doctor said she would give me till June 2nd to deliver.
5:30am Tuesday morning I started getting menstrual like cramps about every 3-4 minutes apart.
6:30am - I lost my mucous plug
call the doctor and they say to head to the hospital to see if it anything.
Quickly jumped in shower packed my bag and head out.
8:30am- Change to gown in triage and felt a gush. My water broke!
Get checked and was 4cm already!
They asked if I wanted to try naturally and I said sure.
Timing from here on is hazy but I was prepped right away for epidural. They had to stick me 4 times to get an iv in and they said that would be more painful than the epidural(Not the case)
No pain really.
Got all my fluids and got epidural.
Didn't really hurt just strange feeling and hard to stay still during contractions but I
believe that was the key to having it work wonderfully. I had No Pain just felt the pressure of the contractions.
Doc came in right after epi was done and I was 7cm.
Wow this was going quicker than I expected.
I was checked again 2 hours later maybe
and was 9.5cm, then before I knew it They said I was ready to push!
I pushed for a little over an hour and it was exhausting. But my husband and sister were great coaches. They turned down the epi so I could feel more but still no pain.
Then one last push ad he came out.
The doctor did have to do an episiotomy
just to make sure his shoulders got out.
My husband got to announce it was a boy. And the doc said Oh My I think he may be 10 lbs.
I almost fainted.
Both me and baby ended up with a temp so he had to spend the rest of the hospital stay in the NICU.
It took about twenty minutes for them to deliver the placenta which felt worse than labor because the epi was wearing off by then.
I tried breastfeeding the first two days but with the baby in the NICU it got to be too overwhelming and very stressful trying to feed him there in front of everyone else in the room (behind a screen but really didn't hide anything.
He wasn't getting much and he would scream his head off. I pumped a little and he got some colostrum and feel good about that but am so more relaxed and happy now that I am bottle feeding.
Recovery for me has been the hardest part. Very uncomfortable but worth it for my little (or I should say BIG) Bub.
