We closed on Tuesday and moved in Saturday. We've been living there while painting and unpacking because our lease ended the day we moved into the house.
Wow now thats planning!

It's been 2 months and we still haven't moved. Probably another 3 weeks.

8 months  But, it was a total gut... stripped down to the studs and all the systems, roof, etc had to be replaced. And hubby is doing most of the work himself, so it's taking time...

we had a very unusual arrangement, we renovated the house BEFORE we closed on it. DH started staying there a few nights a week about a month before we closed.
The sellers already moved out of state and the house suffered horrible water damage from a failed heating system while it was for sale. We found it, made an as-is offer and the sellers allowed us to renovate it so it would qualify for a mortgage. We had a home improvement license at the time & were properly insured.
It worked out very well, they kept their insurance money for the damage from the water, we paid pennies on the dollar for the house & got to renovate it to our liking and according to our budget at the time.
We officially moved in about 3 weeks after closing because my son needed to finish the school year in our other district

Same day...I literally drove to closing with boxes in my car 
us too! we spent our first night on a blowup mattress on the floor!
