Lovenox injections during pregnancy...
Hi...ladies. My niece is on lovenox....she is due in 8weeks...how does that work..with an epidural ? Or if you need a c section?..if I remember correctly ..she is on lovenox so the embryo would get blood...does that make sense..thanks for any info

not sure myself yet, but i "think" dr will transfer her on heparin at 36 weeks. she CAN NOT have epidural while on lovenox. heparin does not stay in the system as long as lovenox. GL to her!

she will most likely get switched to heparin towards the end of pregnancy. lovenox last 24 hours and heparin only 12 so towards the end most people switch so that the meds will wear off in time for labor/delivery/csection. heparin injections are usually done twice a day (once every 12 hours) instead of the once a day lovenox. good luck to her!

i went on lovenox at 8 weeks. at 36 weeks, i was switched over to heparin 2x a day. i had a csection at 40w and went right back on lovenox 12 hours after delivery. i stayed on lovenox for 2 weeks post delivery

what happens if you god forbid go into labor earlier, before you are switched to heparin?

In each of my pregnancies I start out on Lovenox shots (2x a day for me) and switch to Heparin around 37 weeks so that I can get an epi.
I don't know if it is standard protocol, I thought it was when I was pregnant with my first, but I was induced because of the blood thinners. So, she may want to talk to her OB about that.
