Re: Hot dogs.
FYI, Trader Joe's & Wild by Nature has nitrate-free hot dogs (guessing probably whole foods too). I bought some from WBN & I thought they were good.. tasted same as regular to me
I separated & froze them in packs of 2 so I can take some out for myself when needed.

I eat Oscar Meyer Angus Dogs that are nitrate free (someone posted about them here) and they are delicious especially with an ice-cold O'Douls!!

Re: Hot dogs.
My Doctor said they were absolutely fine if it was fresh out of a new package. Don't eat one that is sitting around in the fridge for a day or two. Make sure they are fully cooked too. But mostly she said just enjoy!!!

I've eaten them too. Here's the reality of the situation...hot dogs are not good for anyone...EVER. I'm sure there is no doctor out there that would ever recommend eating them, ever - preggo or not. So I just I treat it like I do when I'm not pregnant. I have them every now and then and make it count - mustard and sauerkraut and sometimes relish if it strikes my fancy!

Yes, this is exactly what I was thinking too. I RARELY eat hot dogs but yesterday I didnt want to cook dinner. I ate the two hot dogs and they were delicious but probably wont have anymore for a looong time.

As long as they are all beef, I ate them whenever I wanted.

Re: Hot dogs.
I don't think hot dogs are bad for pregnant people, just bad in general. It's the nitrates that are carcinogens. This along with all cured meats - salami, bologna, etc. I just started buying nitrate free hot dogs (from Whole Foods). A little more expensive, but still yummy! And I wouldn't buy them for a BBQ party, just for me and DH.

Re: Hot dogs.
So glad you asked this because I love Hot Dogs. But I love them when they are BURNT with yellow mustard and sauerkraut! So I guess I'm good.
