What to expect post-amnio
So I went for my Level II this morning and ended up going ahead with the amnio. I didn't plan it for today, but we knew we couldn't shake the words, "1 in 19" from our minds for much longer so we put a little faith into that the amnio would be fine and just did it. So now, I'm laying in bed and wondering how the next couple of days will go. I am nervous b.c DH works on Sunday so I'll have the kids on my own - but if I'm having issues tomorrow he won't go to work. How did you feel after? How long did you put your feet up for? When did you go back to normal activities like lifting 28 lb children?? Ryan has a swim lesson tomorrow morning - safe to say, if I feel OK, I can bring him and have DH stay home with Colin? Any tips to just relaxing? I'm not used to laying in bed at 1PM - haven't done this in...umm..years

FISH results are Monday evening. Final amnio take 10-14 days.

Re: What to expect post-amnio
I haven't had one, but a good friend did and she said she was really exhausted afterwards. I think more from worry/anxiety. I say, keep activities as limited as possible as long as you can. I know that's hard advice when you've got 2 little active ones!!
Just a lot of

I just laid around for 2-3 days and drank a lot of water. Enjoy the time off your feet and relax!

When I had mine done, I was told that bed rest was mandatory for 2 days. I kept my feet up as much as possible for those 2 days and really only walked around when necessary (like to go to the bathroom). I was also told not to lift anything heavy during that time and to avoid straining my stomach muscles.

Re: What to expect post-amnio
I had a rough night last night. Woke up around 2:30AM with a bad backache, really gassy and uncomfortable. I couldn't tell if I was having contractions - freaked that I was since my first delivery I didn't realize I was really in labor until an hour before I delivered. I seriously considered going to the hospital but it was probably just stress or probably a backached induced from staying in bed all day - I haven't done that since college!
So, I stayed in bed mostly today aside from a little sitting near the kids to watch them play.
Bedrest bites.
DH took off work tomorrow so hoping I'm up and running in time for the grind Monday morning.

Same for me. 2 days bed rest and then took it easy. Relax and take it easy.
