Was anyone else disturbed by this commercial?
I was watching American Idol last night and I saw a NY Quit Smoking commercial with a baby. I was so disturbed and upset by it that I burst into tears. I know that my hormones are out of whack and I'm ultra sensitive lately but was that really necessary? I also cry at the ASPCA commercials!!!

I didnt see it but all those quit smoking commericals disturb me.
I also cry over ASPCA especially the ones with the Sarah McLaughlin songs..

DH has to turn it off....between that one and the one from a few years ago with the little boy who loses his mom in an airport.....I cant even.

I knew what the commercial was before I even opened the thread! DH had to shut it off - we were both so upset.
DH smokes but never around the baby and we make sure she is never exposed to second OR third hand smoke.
Those commercials are so disturbing but I honestly don't think they make anyone quit - everyone knows how bad smoking is.

I do this too to my dogs and then they look at me silently begging me to stop chocking them. I know its very very sad.

i couldnt agree more. I dont get it
why do they have to depress everyone with those commercials. I dont know one person who doesnt know smoking is bad for them!!

I didn't see it but I get the same way with some commercials.
Did you see the commercial during American Idol with the frog that chases the girl around and jumps up to kiss her? I loved it...I thought it was so cute and funny.

OMG!!! Yes, I saw it and was extremely disturbed by it. I actually had to cover my eyes. It was too sad to watch.

I saw it too. I started crying. I thought it was so sad..
Then again, there are still pg people who I knew were smoking during their pg (maybe not as much as they normally would) and their baby turned out fine.
I personally think it's a real bad idea. Seing that baby in the commercial sick like that made me

me too. I was a smoker (more socially really at this point in my life as I had quit and gone back lightly) before I got my BFP and the thought of smoking has never crossed my mind.
Smoking while pregnant? Disgusting.

I couldn't stop sobbing!!!! I had to call DH at work I was so upset... and of course he panicked that something happened. No, it was just a horrible terrible commercial that non-smoking preggos shouldn't have to watch!!!

My DH got very upset. He told me that one of our friends, whose DD is severely disabled, looked like that when she was born (this was before DH met me) and it was because her mother smoked throughout her pregnancy.
I used to smoke too so I understand how hard it is to quit but I can't imagine what would possess one to keep smoking when they are pregnant!

My DH smokes and says he will quit cold turkey when the  are born. I could only imagine how difficult it is for a smoker to quit.
He was very disturbed by the commercial as well and saw how upset I was over it. I can't get the visual out of my mind.
