When should you be concerned about weight?

I started off this pregnancy at 179 lbs. I am currently 168. My doctor told me it wouldn't be so bad for me if I lost weight, but not too much.

I called my doctor a little white ago and I'm waiting for a nurse to call me back, but I feel like this was all m/s. As much has I threw up, I ate, so it's not that I'm dieting on purpose. I just don't snack to much because I still haven't fully gotten my normal appetite back.

Should I be concerned? That's 11 pounds. I am 13 weeks 5 days.

You should be concerned...when your doc is concerned.

There are plenty of women who lose weight due to m/s in the beginning. Nausea and constant vomiting can do that to you!

Re: When should you be concerned about weight?

i know several moms who didnt gain a single pound (which translates to, the mom lost wait but gained with the baby so it evened out to nothing)

babies were all born perfectly healthy and great weights...

i only gained 16lbs and most wasnt until 20+ weeks. For many, weight doesnt start packing on until late second tri Chat Icon

as long as your LO is measuring OK and seems healthy, have NO worries about weight!

I'm right where you are and at 29+ wks pg right now, I'm still down about 11 lbs from pre-pg, despite the zofran. Dr is not concerned at all!

Re: When should you be concerned about weight?

I didn't have much morning sickness...I did have a nasty stomach virus in the beginning....but at 16 weeks, I've gained not one pound!

My cousin had a healthy baby girl in January, and she LOST 22 pounds while she was pregnant.

I know for me, I am a bit overweight and I've known a lot of women who have lost weight while pregnant because your body will use what it has and redistribute...

My Dr. wasn't concerned at alll and said he expects that I'll likely gain ZERO to 10 pounds this pregnancy (Since I gained almost 60 with DD, I wanted to kiss him when he said that!!)

Re: When should you be concerned about weight?

Yeah, they called me back just a moment ago and they said the weight loss for me is great because it'll lessen the chances for GD, as long as my sonos all come up perfect they will not be concerned.
