My "Welcome to the Jungle" Animal Safari shower. (Long and PIC OVERLOAD!)
So we had my shower yesterday and it was seriously AMAZING. I really was flabbergasted by the amount of stuff we got from everyone. Our registry only has about 15 items left on it! This baby is already super loved.
It was at Papa Joe's in Deer Park, and I have to HIGHLY recommend this place to anyone considering doing a shower. We had a 5 course plated luncheon, with beer & wine included and the price was just fantastic IMO. The service was out of this world and everyone raved about the food.
Here is some pic overload for you all....especially if you are considering a jungle theme!

I didn't get a chance to take a pic of the game sheets I made, but you can see the little hippo and elephant under the menu peeking out. My girlfriend did safari themed menus and they were fantastic. FM me if you want her info!
The favor box and some animal crackers.
Inside the favor box was some candy and this giraffee soap, as well as homemade cookies. My wonderful friend Kim made them, and if you want some awesome cookies let me know!
I didn't get a good shot of the cookies wrapped up, but here they are before we packaged them:
The cake....now I have to comment about this. It was a custom cake from Alpine Pastry Shoppe in Smithown. I am very happy with the cake and how it came out---as well as how AMAZING it tasted. (One tier was cannolli filling and the other was chocolate hazelnut mousse.) HOWEVER, the bakery nearly ruined my day.
Delivery was scheduled for around 10:45-11:00am at the location. I was not there to do set up - and left all that up to my sister. She got there and did the decorations and what not and I didn't arrived until 12:30. After I said hello to everyone and got settled it was almost 1pm. I realized I did not see the cake out on a table and I said "Where's the cake?" and my sister, in that instant, realized she never asked anyone about the cake to make sure it arrived. (She had just assumed it was there and I had been the one handling all the details for it.) For about 10 min the people at Papa Joe's were trying to figure out whether a cake had been delivered or not. I was ready to cry because this was not a cheap cake, I paid good money for it.
I called up Alpine and the girl answered and put me on hold, and comes back and says "Oh we're gonna send someone right now." WHAT!?!?!? Hello it's 1 FREAKING PM and the cake was supposed to be here 2 hours ago!!!!! I asked what happened and she said "Well the slip is still here on the fridge, they must have just forgotten to deliver it...it's been really crazy here today. Sorry."  You forgot? You forgot to deliver a cake to a baby shower? Are you effing kidding me? At this point I was in full blown raging hormone mode and I was crying on the phone telling them that I was the guest of honor, this was my shower, I paid a lot of money for a cake and how could they just forget to deliver it? She simply apologized again and said they'd get it out to us. The cake finally arrived almost 40 minutes later.
I am waiting right now to call them back to speak to an owner or manager, because I feel as though I'm entitled to SOME money back. (At the very least, the delivery charge should have been refunded.) Besides that incident, the cake was great.

This was so cute. My sister got us a box of onesies, for each of the baby's "firsts" for the first year. Every single holiday and even had one made to put on them on our wedding anniversary!

As for the cake - it looks great! I'm sorry you went through all that with the bakery...my friend had major issues with them for her son's 1st birthday cake too (although the cake came out great and delicious)
Looks like a wonderful day though, and that's what counts!!

The dress was the most RANDOM find ever. I had ordered from 4 websites and went to about 3 or 4 different stores, to no avail.
We walked into Sears on a whim while shopping with some friends a few weeks ago. Went to check out their "maternity" section (I use that term loosely since it was a JOKE.) Low and behold, the one of only 3 dresses there was this dress. It was even on clearance!

you look friggin awesome! Looks like such a great shower, so glad you had a blast. Kim's cookies were so cute.....Greg brought in some extras to work last week, the Lion was quite tasty!! Everything looks great!!!

isn't it funny how that worked out? I so was not looking to match the theme at all. By the time I found that dress I just wanted anything that didn't make me feel like a whale! Then when I found the dress it was like fate because it went with the theme of everything we did for the shower and nursery.
