If you are considering a natural birth...
I strongly recommend The Complete Idiots Guide to Natural Childbirth!
I'm giving birth in a hospital with a Dr., but hope to have a drug free labor...this book is informative but not preachy, and stresses making the right decisions for you!
Im so not into super natural holistic medicine, but just want to have the most natural birth possible, and reading this has given me more confidence than anyone I've talked to about this being possible!

Re: If you are considering a natural birth...
Can I say something........I admire that you want a drug free birth and I pray to GOD you get that, but there is NO shame if after 20hrs and pit you need to have an epi. PLEASE don't feel like you let yourself down or that your body ket you down. I am all for a natural delivery med free, but I also think as a culture we put so much pressure on ourselves that if we need help and take it we have failed. Sorry about the it is just so sad to see so many women talk about "failing" in cb because they had some medical intervention. The end goal is a healthy and safe delivery.

Well said. I had two natural childbirths & nothing made me sadder than to hear my friend as a new mom tell me how upset she was that she opted for the epidural & that she "failed".
It's about managing pain but it's also about nerve endings.

I haven't read this book, but I have had two natural births. It is definitely something you can do. Let me know if you have any questions. Are you with a midwife? Good luck!

Re: If you are considering a natural birth...
Thanks for the recommendation! I'm taking the approach that I took with my last pregnancy- I'm aiming for a natural birth, but if I find I need intervention to get through it or to make the process easier, I'm open to it! I'll definitely check this book out- thanks!
