3D/4D Sono - Worth it?

Soooooooooo the sono tech who seems to always be working @ my practice is a major B. She didn't turn the screen an inch last night b/c "She needed to see" so suffice it to say this is sono appointment #2 where I saw bubkiss. But, I did get a pic of my son's boy parts Chat Icon

I really want to see this little guy and see his face. Are 3D/4D sono's worth the price and if so where?

Thanks in advance.

I'm getting mine done on April 27th. It comes with a disk.

I will let you know how it goes!! and if the dvd is good I might upload the video to my FB. so if we are friends you can see it and the pics and then decide.

Mine is 200 for the 3d sono done at my dr office.

My dr did one for free at around 30 weeks. If he didnt offer it, I probably would not have paid for it but thats just me.

Re: 3D/4D Sono - Worth it?

In all honesty I don't think it's really worth it, I've gotten one at each monthly visit only because my sono place just does it at no extra cost. I do love seeing it on the screen but would I pay extra for it if I didn't get it, nah. I'd rather save that money and invest it on a great newborn photographer to take pics when LO is actually here!

Thanks ladies! My OB doesn't have it. It just stinks, that I've been to 2 appointments now and the Tech won't turn the screen a little bit so I can see.

I told DH we're bringing the Flip camera next time and just video tape the session regardless.

Ditto... Thought it was cool, but didn't think it was worth the money. He printed out some pics and it's a little weird. We said the baby looked like clay. If he didn't do it for free we would've never paid for it.

Re: 3D/4D Sono - Worth it?

I did it with #1 and loved it-so I did it with #2. Is it more expensive than it should be, yes but maybe just get a basic package or something. I don't regret doing it. I was curious to see what my dc was going to look like. DD looked exactly like she did in the sono. DS looks exactly like dd did in her pictures. I'm glad I did it.

Re: 3D/4D Sono - Worth it?

With DS I contemplated doing it but then decided not to...I wanted to be a little surprised when I saw my little guy.

Is there another sono tech at your Dr.'s office? I know at mine there's a morning and evening one and the evening one is sooo nice!

yes it's such a catch 22 lol

I love the tech on Tuesdays but HATE the doctor. Love the Doctor on Thursdays but HATE the tech lol

I even said last night "oh I can come in for a sono only, on a Tuesday" and the receptionist shook her head and said "don't be silly, we can schedule both together " LOL!

Sorry to hear about such the crappy set up at your doctors...at my doctors office they have the screen for the sono tech and then a huge screen for DH and I to look at so the sono tech can do their thing and we can just watch baby girl

Crashing. Do it. Chat Icon
We went for the cheapest package and got about 30 pics and a dvd of him swimming around in there. My DH was "thisclose" to crying when he saw it on the screen. And how else will you get cool before & afters like this?

Wow that is crazy! She can't let you see for a cple minutes?? My place has a flat screen in front of me, tech/dr have their own screen. I assumed they were all like that.

i would def go to to a place like Impact for 3d if I were in that situation.

I agree with this- We got 3d sonos for free when we had 30 and 35 week sonograms at the hospital...and both times Mason's arm and hands were covering his face! LOL Thank God we didn't pay for it Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Whats funny though is that now at 11 weeks old, he STILL naps with his arm covering himself Chat Icon
If your OB can do it free of charge I say go for it....because I will tell you that doing newborn pics is worth its weight in GOLD! I am so glad we decided to do them.

Re: 3D/4D Sono - Worth it?

I'm on the fence. We were leaning towards going for a 3d soon but the lab surprised us by flipping to 3d for a little during our 16w anatomy scan and often during our 20w anatomy scan. We got one amazing amazing shot at 16w that looks exactly like my dh when he was little even down to his bowlcut (which is just a shadow on the soon but looks like hair lol) We also got an amazing pic from the 20w that looks like me and is just an adorable pose. Those pix are priceless and I think it would have been worth paying for if I knew we would get pix like that. It was also pretty cool seeing the 3d. That said the other pix from our 20w were "good 3d pix" but are a little creepy looking and i probably would have been eh if those were our only shots. A lot of times it's hit or miss with 3d sonos. If u can find a cheap package it might be worth it for the experience but I wouldn't say it's a must do and while I hope we get another 3d shot at a future sono I'll be fine too if we don't.

Re: 3D/4D Sono - Worth it?

My high risk doctor does the 3D pictures. It is a completely different feeling to see the baby's actual face in 3D on that screen. I LOVE having those pictures. And I probably would have paid for them. But the packages are pricey and you can get a newborn photo session for that price. So I say if you have the extra money, do it. If not, I'd rather spend it on the newborn photos.

Re: 3D/4D Sono - Worth it?

For hose of you who didn't get it done at your ob/gyn, where did you go? I looked up a few places & I think I might go Impact Medical Tech in East Meadow, anyone hear of it or know somewhere reasonably priced they would recommend? Thanks

Watch out for b!tchy sono techs! I have one that won't LET us video the baby on our cell phone. NO ONE ELSE IN THE DOCTOR'S OFFICE cares if we video - not even the doctors!! Just her... Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Nothing like causing a pregnant lady more stress for just wanting to SEE her baby!

I swear... some of them are in the wrong profession!

Re: 3D/4D Sono - Worth it?

I would nicely tell her next time that she MUST let you see some of it next time. That is really ballsy of her. I'd also mention it to the Doctor. I've only had two sonos and my tech is showing us stuff and always taking her time. One appt she squeezed me in because the PA couldn't find the HB with the mini doppler. She took her sweet time and made sure to show me and let me hear it.
