Grasscloth Wallpaper - YAY or NAY?

I love grasscloth wallpaper. Its a bit overwhelming for a whole room but I would love to accent my wall above my fireplace with it. I am not sure if I should do the whole wall or something like panels with a frame behind the sconces. Do you think that will look good in this space? I don't know if I should do the whole wall, panels behind the sconces and decor or just do a portion of the wall behind the fireplce?Don't mid the crappy phone pics or the spackling and paint samples. DO you think its something that could DIY? I have no wallpaper experience...

I don't like it..

but looking at the pics of the panels you have you could totally do it yourself..

but I wouldn't do it if I were you, it doesn't go and the way you have it looks nice

Nay. They do this a lot down here in FL in the model homes and I'm not a fan, it looks messy. You can always see the seams like in pic 2.

Nay. I think any wallpaper should be banned. I think that kind will collect dust. I would just do a color if you do anything.

ITA, how can you clean that. It will hold all dust. No way. Also will be a very dated thing one day that you will say, what was I thinking?

Re: Grasscloth Wallpaper - YAY or NAY?

I say nay because of the wood color thats underneath it. Maybe if it was more of an espresso color or white wood I'd like it.

I like it but it won't go with the wood you have underneath. Not the same style.

Grass wallpaper is more beachy

You woodwork is more country

I like it and since you love it I think you should go for it.

However what I would do is paint the wood below white or cream, then either do 2 rectangular wallpaper panels for each sconce or a bigger square encompassing the sconces and decorative hanging. With either you should def. frame it like pic 1 shows.

Not sure if the hanging would pop or clash though with the wallpaper behind it. You can roll out the wallpaper on the floor and place the wall hanging on it and see how it looks.

The wall paper is more of a modern look. What does the rest of the furniture look like in that room?

I am not too crazy about the color of the wood. I originally wanted to paint it white but then the color grew on me. I painted the trim in my bathroom white and it was such a daunting task I cant bear to do the whole fireplace and then the trim in the whole house so I am trying to work with it and make things look better. Should I just paint it another color? Here is my furniture in the roomExternal Image

I would paint the woodwork a cream color or stain it as an espresso for a more modern look.

Paint the fp dark brown, or stain to match coffee table. I would also raise the round piece in the middle like 2 inches, so its centered more. Maybe some throw pillows for some color.

I'd stain or paint it darker as well.

Then I would definitely frame the grasscloth like in the first pic.

I agree. If you were going to do it, you should take that curvy piece off the fireplace and paint it white or something.
