Name Spelling - advice/thoughts? w/ poll
DH & I almost agree on a name. We like the name Marisa/Marissa. We just don't agree on how you spell it.
Anyone have any friends named Marisa/Marissa .. and how do they spell it?
I like it pronounced like MAR-RIS-SA, not Mar-reese-a.

I like it spelled Marissa and that's how most people with this name that I know spell it.
Also my name is Melissa, one "L", two "s" and I'm following that pattern too!

OMG, that's my husband's thought process too! LOL. I like it with one S.
Marisa Tomei spells it with one "S" and she is definitely a ma-ris-ah and not a ma-reese-a.

I grew up with a very close friend named Marisa (pronounced exactly like Marissa). It was confusing and she was forever spelling her name.
Of course, DD is Megan and she, too, will be forever spelling her name. It's just how it is.
But I like Marissa better. It just makes way more sense to me.
BTW... we totally call DD "elbie" now because we were so used to calling her "little baby" and abbreviating it "l.b." and it seems to have stuck. Not sure how long that will last lol.

I would spell it Marissa if I wanted it pronounced the way you do. Marisa, to me, is Mareesa as you said

I'm Marisa - w/ one S ..........Obviously I'm biased, but I like the way it looks better w/ one S - but that's also b/c it's what I'm used to 0
Either way she's going to be spelling it b/c people always ask me ' 1 S or 2?' .....
I had a 3rd grade teacher who insisted (to my MOM no less) that my name was Mar- ee - sa 
Most people call me Maris, or Ris anyway .....

I do not like the double R
People will always screw up and put 1 s or 2 but the double R will really always be an issue
and isnt it MAH-RIS-A
You want the R pronounced 2times MaR Ris A?

The spelling with 2 R's looks like a typo.
I have known people who spelled it the other two ways.

Yes, if they can grasp that you didn't mean to say Melissa! I have gotten called Melissa by almost everyone ... including co-workers I worked closely with for 3+ years ...

I like Marisa better than Marissa. I dont know why but I dont see the need for the extra 'S'.
