Would you call ped for a 104.7 temp in 14 month old?
Xavier has had a fever for 2 days now. It went as high as 103.7 earlier so I gave him a Fever All and took him to the ped to have his eas checked. They said he was fine and his temp(underarm) was 99. At 8:00 it was 103 and he just woke up about 1:00am shaking and threw up a few times. Took his temp and it's 104.7...gave him another Fever All. I cant really give him liquid meds because he throws up everytime...usually before I even finish giving it to him.
He's laying on me now and drank some water...no longer shaking and seems a little cooler. I'm so bad at deciding when to call ped after hours. Their website says if it doesn't go down 2 or 3 degrees in 2 hours to call.

I would see if the meds bring it down. If it does to at least 102 I would wait until morning. If not, I would call.
Also, how accurate do you usually find the underarm to be. Is 104.7 like 103.7 rectal or 105+. If 105+ I would call now.
So so sorry you guys are going through this - hope he is better soon

I always take it rectally...the underarm was taken at the peds offce today. I'm going to take it again in about 2 hours and see what it is then. He is still very hot to the touch but cooler than before. I just got really nervous because he was shaking and vomiting. Thanks.

Take a cold washcloth and keep it on his forehead - that always works a bit too.
Hope he's better soon

Yes I would. DD had roseola a few weeks ago and had high fevers over 104 at night. She would be crying and shaking also. It was very scary. Alternate Motrin with Tylenol to bring the fever down! I hope he feels better!

100 yes and if it was after hours I'd go straight to PM peds. I caught my DS going into a febrile seizure last month when he went that high. Definitely get him seen immediately!

Thanks guys. He's doing better this morning. He still has a temp...well actually both boys still were over 102 earlier. I gave Rylan Motrin and Xavier Fever All. If the fever doesn't go away by later today i'll probably take them both in to the ped again.

Depends on how he's acting and how long it has been high. Most likely, yes. If it was on its way up and I couldn't get it down, absolutely. If DC was crying and/or lethargic, absolutely. If DC just had the fever and was able to sleep comfortably and it wasnt increasing, I would wait until morning and then call.
