Not much I can do for this right? (sickness related)

DD is just miserable since last night.
Coughing, crying in her sleep, sounds very congested.
She was up and down all night long- it harkened me back to the days of getting up 40 times a night!

This morning she was just not herself- glassy eyes, not smiling much, red nose, sneezing a lot, slight cough.

I took her temp- 3 times actually- and it was always normal or below normal.
No fever at all

No reason to call the ped right? Sounds like a common cold? I happen to be getting sick myself with a head cold so I am guessing she got it from me or me from her.

I just feel so awful for her...she looks so darn miserable!

How old is she?
I'd still call the Ped. Sometimes they do recommend a children's decongestive to help. DS is 21 months and the Ped said that Triaminic is ok for him to take to help clear the musuc.

Also try a humidifier, Vicks, keep her upright and keep clearing out the nose as much as you canChat Icon

She is only 8.5 months so I am thinking they won't let me give her any meds- right?

Yeah, that's still young for meds.

Do you have a Nebulizer? IF you do sometimes they recommend that, but if it's in her chest. Other than that stick with the humidifier, run the shower and sit in the steam with her, use the aspirator, VIcks plug-ins help, keep her laying upright maybe in the swing or bouncy.
If she's still uncomfortable call the Ped anyway. Doesn't hurt to get some professional advise

Thanks! I just feel so awful when she is sick.
I feel so helpless and nervous.
I'd rather take the illness and suffer for her! Chat Icon

I use the saline spray alot when DS has a cold and always run the humidifier.

You can give her tylenol to help with the symptoms- maybe call your ped and ask if you can do that?

I gave her some motrin this morning because I just felt so bad- I was hoping it would at least ease some of the discomfort.
I will try the saline tonight- but she FREAKS out with it...she HATES having it up her nose...

I would call, and ask for a nurse to call you back....they can just help you over phone in terms of suggestions...but it sounds like a cold Chat Icon

Yeah I am thinking it's just a cold- but in a baby it makes them so miserable.
Heck I am miserable with it- and I'm an adult.
It's so sad when they are sick!!! Chat Icon

my DD just got over this exact same thing. the glassy eyes were heart wrenching. but she also did not have a fever. i did a lot of steam in the bathroom and saline spray and then sucked her boogies out. elevated her crib mattress and baby vicks at nighttime.

My ped said she likee to see them for a cough under age 1, just to make.sure their lungs are clear. Also if the cough is bad enough Thu sometimes prescribes a nebulizer
