i hate the fact criminals are now free to do whatever they want to do, people are looting but I applaud those who are fighting for a better way of life. At least these people are taking control of their gov't and their lives. Its horrible that many are suffering and its chaos.

i'm interested to see who will attempt to get into power now.
i've heard that several groups are pushing for this one guy ( i can't remember his name, only that he's a Nobel peace prize recipient)
i'd be worried if a religious fanatic tried to get into the presidency in place of the current president.
Things would go from bad to worse

Ditto. I love that civilians are standing up against the looters. And I even heard a story on NPR the other day about a guy that just started cleaning up the street of all the debris that rioting brings, and a bunch of people joined up with him. They knew that their country is on the news all over the world, so they want to try and give a better view of their country.

My 18 yr old cousin is in Cairo He goes to VMI(virginia military institute) for college and is on a College Exchange program in Cairo for a semester.He just got there at the beginning of January. We had no communication with him for a few days but found out yesterday(DH finally got him on his cell) that the state dept was taking him to the airport and were going to put him on a flight to Europe. Then he is on his own but at least he will be safe. Thank God, he is from a military school and the state Dept can help him. We are hoping to hear in the next few hours that he is out and where he is going.

i feel like the world is going insane!! the world seems to have dementia.
ITA! A friend and I are planning a trip to Egypt but obviously we will have to wait a long time to go. I just hope they can protect the treasures of the past.

so do i. and of all the ancient artifacts... the Egyptian ones are some of the oldest.
i'm a little crazy and a part of me thinks the answers to some of life's greatest questions are found in the ancient past... so it's painful to see these things being destroyed.
I'd love to go to egypt... but yes you def would have to wait a long time now.

It's looters looking for gold and jewelry. You will always have individuals who take advantage of any situation to make themselves richer. Be it a looter during a revolution or a vice-president during a war.
