Carrier for Cystic Fibrosis

I just got back from my first official OB appointment at 9W2D and was told my test results were positive for a carrier of CF. My dr. said not to worry, we just need to test DH to see if he is also a carrier.

Problem is, he is deployed and is not due to return until early May. He is on a Military base in Afghanistan that does have facilities; however, because he is not in the military (he is a contractor), he does not have access to them so we have to wait until he returns home to find out.

I know I shouldn't stress about it because my chances are slim but it would really ease my mind to know now if he was a carrier.

Does anyone have experience with carrying this gene?

On a good note. I got to see the baby moving all around in there which made my day

i also found out i was a carrier of Cystic fibrosis, DH was tested and turns out he is not a carrier, so all is good!

seriously i know its hard cuz DH cant get tested right away, but the chances are pretty slim that you both are carriers!!

and even if he was a carrier, you baby would only have a 25% chance of having it...75% chance of being completely fine!! so the odds are on your side!

will be praying for you! but try and stay calm and not stress too much!

I tested positive as a carrrier, but my DH was negative. Its a slim chance that he will be positive. I know that the waiting is really hard, especially with your DH being away. Try to stay busy. i rememeber the wait being hard, but it will be ok. I will think of you and try as hard as it is not to stress.

I was also a carrier and dh tested negative. Your dh is negative.

Thanks ladies. Im going to try not to stress about it. Fingers are crossed that DH is not a carrier.
