electrician pricing?

a few of our bedrooms in our new house do not have any lighting.

I wanted to put in an overhead light or ceiling fan.

Anyone know approximately how much it costs to run electric to the ceiling for a light/fan. and is it a big messy job?

we had ceiling fans added to our bedrooms and since we have access to the attic it was easy and no messy at all... especially if you get the remote and do not add switches!
my cousin is an electrician tho, so we paid him to do it and bought all the stuff... i can't really give you an idea on $$

Where are you located? My dad is an electrician. His number is 399-2033...he is a vendor here (BNB Electric).

like a previous poster said, it depends if you have attic space? Otherwise the wires have to be snaked thru the walls.

We don't have attic space (our cape was dormered out) and our contractor told us it would be about $125 a fixture. That is as part of major remodeling, so I don't know if that affects it or not.

Thanks everyone...I think only one room is accessible through the attic. So that one should be bad but the other one they would have to snake through the wall.

I need to close first and then figure it all out.
Thanks for your input.
