soy formula question
DD is 7 months.
She's been on soy formula since around 1 month. The dr. said she had a milk sensitivity and we switched her from regular to soy.
My question: Is she going to be on soy forever? Should I try introducing milk? What about yogurt? Does anyone have any BTDT advice?
TIA!

Re: soy formula question
My Ds was on soy, but he wasn't allergic, just sensitive.
He did fine with regular yogurt and regular milk when we introduced both.
He eats all cow's milk dairy with no issues now.

Re: soy formula question
DD has been on soy formula since she was 6 months... when I stopped BFing.
We think she has a milk allergy because the 2 times she had a milk based bottle, she threw up violently.
She turns 1 this Friday and I have her 1 year appointment next Monday.
The ped told me they would test her. I am not really sure where we go from here and what kind of milk we are going to introduce.
She has been eating soy yogurt.
I have given her things made with milk in them and she has been fine... muffins and pancakes and mashed potatoes... no reaction.
So I'm either thinking she has outgrown the allergy or is well on her way.
But I'm paranoid and won't start introducing milk products until I talk to the ped in a week.

Re: soy formula question
DD 17 months was on soy for a little while. I introduced yogurt and she was fine with it and loves it. Deli cheeses she is okay. Whole milk packaged cheeses are not good. She can't have any milk...not even fat free. We have her on lactose free milks. Started at 12 months.

How did you introduce the milk and yogurt? Gradually?

Re: soy formula question
I don't remember when you're supposed to introduce yogurt, but whatever the normal time was, we gave it to him and he had no reaction.
He had really bad gas and spit-up issues, so I think the regular cow-based formula was just too hard on his belly.
We introduced milk at 1 yr, cold turkey and he was fine as well.
I read somewhere that most babies with milk sensitivities (not allergies) will grow out of it by 1 year.
