Staying "off the strip"

Thinking about using the timeshare in Vegas this spring with another couple. None of the timeshares are on the strip, but some of them are just off the strip (possibly walking distance)

What are your thoughts about not staying on the strip?

As long as it's walking distance, that would be fine with me.

Re: Staying "off the strip"

I don't think I would do it. I don't trust most of the neighborhoods in Las Vegas so I don't think I'd want to walk anywhere that wasn't right on the strip. I also wouldn't want to take a car.. because most of what I would do when I was out would make it irresponsible to drive.

Maybe if I planned on going to Vegas for an extended period of time or for more than a few times.. but if it was like 1 week or 2-3 weekends a year I'd probably just stay in a hotel on the strip.

ITA. If you are off the strip and it's safe, and you could cab it great, but the walking distance is what scares me b/c I wouldn't want to walk. Many locations just blocks away aren't too safe and you'd have to walk through them.

What time share do you have? We have on and we're deeded in Vegas and never stay in it. Ours is affiliated with the Cesar's properties.

Cabs aren't just waiting outside your place and honestly I wouldn't walk in Vegas unless it's on the strip.

I wouldn't stay off strip. Even when we stay on strip, I think it's a lot of walking. The hotels are much further apart than they appear.

Two of the most popular hotels Palm and Hard Rock are off the strip. I don't think it matters much, although I would prefer to stay on the strip.

I have to agree. It is a lot of walking. Dh and I walked to the Rio once. Luckily it was only 90 degrees that day.
There are a lot of undesirable areas of off the strip, even on the strip.

Re: Staying "off the strip"

Many of the timeshares will offr free shuttle service to the strip. You can use to shuttle to go out and then you can always cab it back, as they will be easier to get on ethe strip.
