We are COLORFUL!!!! The first year it was a classy tree but MIL passed away shortly there after and we inherited her ornaments (they meant alot to her) and it has turned into a Disney tree for the most part.

Classy? Festive? Fun? Colorful?
My DH and I have this agruement every year! I love to decorate with lots of color and love the "gingerbread house" look - for inside and the tree. He likes the classy all silver and white look for the tree.
What do you guys do?
i could have written those words myself.
all our stuff for the xmas tree is in jewel tones--love it but kind of sick of it & need a change.
i'm thinking of indulging DH's vibe for a few years and getting white lights, lots of red, silver, and gold. that's what he was used to growing up.
i love lots of color for the inside and lots of traditional white & red ribbons & evergreen garland for outside.

We hve white lights with colorful ornaments... both glass & old fashioned wooden ones. If I was rich & liked to waste money, I'd buy new ornaments/tree every year to have a different style every year.

I will be putting up 2 trees (well, 4 if you count the little ones in both my boys' bedrooms  ).
My Living room tree is about 90% Lenox ornaments with other gold, silver and crystal ornaments. Gold ribbon cascades and a bow topper. Very "fancy" as my kids call it.
My Family Room tree (first time I'm doing one is this year), will have all of the kids ornaments (personalized; sports; characters....whatever). And whatever ornaments I have that don't "go" with the Lenox tree. But I will still also use the gold ribbon and bow topper. The kids wanted all of their ornaments displayed this year and they had too many for their individual trees, so another family tree, it is.
Your living room tree sounds very similar to what we have! Nearly all of our ornaments are Lenox!
I had always planned on making it more child friendly when we have our first so next year we may borrow your idea of a second tree!

Outside is all white lights.
Tree inside is colored lights and all kinds of ornaments. Since my dad died, my mom had packed away all the ornaments from our tree growing up. Last year, my sister and I went through all of them and split them up. I have ornanments of my Dad's from when he was a child - with the year and his initial written by my grandmother on the bottom/back of each one. Each year my parents did that for us growing up too. So I have all my ornaments from when I was a child as well.
I have started doing this for my son too. So our tree is full of old family ornaments and new ornaments that I have started for my family.
I love it and won't have it any other way

We have 2 trees. Our real tree upstairs has ornamentscollected through the years. I love hallmark ornaments. So we have everything from the peanuts to start wars to comicbook characters..
My downstairs basement fake tree is strictly rudolph the red nosed reindeer. That is MY FAVORITE! So everything in the basement is rudolph themed

Festive.
Our tree is prelit with clear and multicolor lights. It has a remote control so you can have either just the clear, just the multi, all or blinking lights. I love it love it love it 
The "base" layer or ornaments, as I call it , is mostly red. Red balls and red beaded garland and red bows (sometimes red poinsettia flowers on there too).
Then, we have lots of meaningful ornaments, ornaments we received as gifts, ornaments we've gotten for the kids and our little family every year. Everything from lenox to the personalized stuff from the mall kiosks to hallmark.
Then, a gold star.

I am also colorful and meaningful person
-our fisrt year most of our ornaments were from a Target kit with sparkly and bold colors. Since being married we have collected so many more special oraments , we use less from the target kit each year.

Very colorful with a lot of meaningful ornaments collected throughout the years. 
Same here!
We do white lights and have a variety of very eclectic ornaments that we have gotten over the years. Including ornaments from mine and DH's childhoods. I love the variety of ornaments.
As for the rest of the house, we just go with things we like.

We have 2 trees. The one in the formal living room is more "fancy". All white lights and Lenox & glass ornaments. The one downstairs in the family room / play room is more "fun". Color lights and ornaments collected through the years, like sports teams, vacations, kids . ornaments and family personalized ones, and also Rudolph ornaments

I do a more classic and elegant tree. We have white lights. Many ornaments are Lenox that we've collected through the years. Some of the ornaments are fun though.
As far as decorations I like cute and fun!
Outside we go with white lights.

I guess my tree is a traditional/classy style. I use mostly red and gold ornaments and red ribbon. For the outside of the house I like it to be more fun though. This year I am totally going for the gingerbread house look!

White lights...75% of my tree is Krinkles - fun, colorful. The rest is snowmen, and a mixture of delicate glass, colorful glass balls (turquoise, orange, lime green, purple & hot pink), and sentimental ornaments.
