Think I've just had a chemical...(w/update)
Tested positive with four tests, including digital, last thursday through Saturday, after my period was a day or two late. Began scant brown spotting Monday evening, which then increased and got a bit red yesterday. Then I woke up in the middle of the night with what felt like a full on period including dull back ache and cramps. I called my Dr and she said to come in for blood work - I had a first appt scheduled with her for later this week, so looks like we'll push it a bit earlier to try to confirm what happened. But this is only about a week after my period was due, so I guess it's a chemical/threatened miscarriage
This sucks. I had learned all about chemicals from this board, and I think it at least helped me intellectually recognize what was going on and not entirely freak out. But I cried last night after work because I just knew ...it's just upsetting when you've begun to get a bit excited about being pregnant.
I just hope this isn't something that's likely going to recur.

UPDATE: Thank you so much for all of your condolences. I'm feeling better, and more or less done being sad. I went to the Dr today - she confirmed that cervix was slightly open, indicating a very early miscarriage. Urine test showed no sign of Hcg left in system, but will wait to see results of blood work. Will have a sonogram and full exam next week to be thorough. Basically, I just got my period a week late, so hopefully my cycle won't get thrown off too badly - if it wasn't for the eagerness of using a HPT, I suppose I wouldn't have even known I was ever pregnant. Dr said these early miscarriages are quite common, not due to anything I did, and do not indicate that there will be difficulties carrying successfully in the future - it's just what happens when there are chromosomal abnormalities during cell division. But I know that some on here have been through this more than once, so I guess each BFP becomes an anxious waiting game.

I'm sorry. I read in what to expect, that almost 70% of conceptions are chemicals. And that most of us have had them before. Even though emotionally they are very hard, the book said they are not really miscarriages, therefore your body should not be affected.  for next cycle.
