Ok, ladies...REALLY need your help on this one!!!

DH and I are going to a wedding on Nov. 6th in NY.

The ceremony is at noon with a 1:00 cocktail hour.

Obviously, neither of my 2 "stock" wedding dresses are going to work since one is a cocktail-type dress with black overlay, and the other is an evening dress. Both way too formal for a noon wedding.

I'm not very good at this--I'm a sweatshirt and jeans kinda girl--I know what NOT to wear to this wedding, but I have no idea what TO wear...

Can you guys help me find something appropriate? Money is kinda tight right now so the less I can spend, the better...

Oh, and I'm plus-sized...I wear an 18 or 20...so that complicates matters infinitely Chat Icon

TIA to anyone who is willing to take on this messy situation Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I personally think a short cocktail dress is fine for a day wedding.

what about leggings and a tunic or shirt dress? you could always just do black and dress it up with some cool shoes and jewelry. i recently just got some nice stuff on macy's.com!!! i wear the same size and they have some really nice stuff!!

Really? It seemed too formal to me. This is very similar to the dress that I have--the only difference is that mine is a halter-top and the underlay is more champagne than silver...

I think a short cocktail dress is appropriate. I love the dress that was posted. Do you have a photo of your dress? Can you post it?

Cocktail dress, definitely. You need something weather-appropriate though...so add a pretty shawl and I would go with closed-toed shoes.

Ok, found it...it's not a great shot of the front, but it's the only one I can find. I had a black shrug that I wore with it.

You are adorable!I love the dress. I don't think you need to get another dress. If you still have the shrug I would bring it in case it is chilly. I would have suggested something like the dress you already have for an afternoon wedding anyway.Chat Icon

I think the dress you have is perfectly fine also. But for the future, I usually get dresses at www.igigi.com or www.alight.com.

I think that is perfect--I had a Nov. 6 1PM wedding (6 years ago!), and everyone wore cocktail dresses similar to that. Honestly I would have been Chat Icon if someone showed up in leggings.

I agree!! Maybe if you want to change it up, get different shoes or a different shrug/shall, but you really don't need to.

Thanks everybody!! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon For some reason, I thought it'd be too formal for such an early wedding. Just goes to show how much I know about this stuff Chat Icon

Now to see if it still fits...my size is the same, but since having 2 kids, I know it's going to look a little different... Chat Icon Chat Icon
