Re: PSA! VERY scary well visit today
So glad he is OK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I remember shedding like nobody's business after DS was born, and I would just run my hands over his fingers and toes to collect stray hairs at EVERY diaper change - because I read about the "hair tourniquete" here on LIF!!
Thanks for sharing this story for the new mommies

Re: PSA! VERY scary well visit today
That is very scary! I remember reading on here once that this happened to someone elses DC so now I am constantly checking! I am always loosing my hair also so I worry that it will get wrapped around one of his little fingers or toes. Glad to hear that your DS is okay and that he is so healthy!

Re: PSA! VERY scary well visit today
Oh, so sorry you went through that! Must have been scary! I hope DS is fine from it. It's never happend, thank goodness. It was one of the first things our ped said at our first visit and DH picked up on it like a hawk so he's always checking.
Don't forget to check the peepers too! Common there too for boys.
I remember when DS was a newborn and would be upset through the night, I'd wake up to find his onsie under his pjs on inside out or his diaper taped crooked and wondered what's going on here? To later realize that DH remembered what the ped said that if you cannot soothe him check his digits and pee pee for mom's hair. So he was stripping DS in the middle of the night to check. Good daddy.
Thanks for sharing this, always a good reminder for everyone!

Re: PSA! VERY scary well visit today
So glad he's ok! It is scary that he didn't even cry! I would have never known about this if not for other LIF moms that posted about it, so thank you for posting this PSA as a reminder to all of us and also for the new moms that may have never heard of this!

I'm the same way with Owen. I nearly fainted when I saw a long hair in his diaper-thank goodness it was wrapped around his "stuff".

Re: PSA! VERY scary well visit today
This happened with DD when she was smaller too. Another good thing to do is to wash all socks and anything with feet on it inside out so that lint and hair doesn't get trapped in them. If you start doing that, when you flip it back the right way, you will be surprised how much can get trapped!

Re: PSA! VERY scary well visit today
so glad he is ok. i have heard about this too. the nurse at my ped warned me about it when she saw my daughter tugging at my hair. but i can't believe your poor little boy wasn't complaining! the nurse told me to always check if baby seemed to be crying for no reason.

Re: PSA! VERY scary well visit today
Very scary! This also happened to me because of a loose thread in DD's sleep sack. I caught it early on, but I'm always checking her toes in the sleep sack to make sure nothing's tangled.

Re: PSA! VERY scary well visit today
awwwwn poor Frankie. I'm so sorry- that really must have scared you. I put socks on DS all the time (even at night with his feetie pj's). Thanks for posting this b/c I will now be more mindful to check his fingers and toes more often. Unfortunately my hair is EVERYWHERE too.....losing a TON since the birth of my son.
