I will be putting her in them for everything!
She's a baby- she doesn't need to be dressed to the nines!
When it comes to babies- IMO- comfort and convienience are first and foremost!
After all, she can be in an expensive designer outfit and she's just going to spit up all over it anyway!!! Chat Icon

I wish I could send Athan off to COLLEGE in his footie pajamas Chat Icon He refuses to keep a blanket on, so they are the only means I have of keeping him warm. I love them. He lounges in them all day at home, and when he was a baby - till about 1.5 years old - I would keep him in them when I dropped him off at my mom's in the mornings too. I love them.

I only put DS in footie pjs the for the first month. They were just so much easier and comfy....but now that he is 4 1/2 months I only use them for sleeping.

Re: The Great Footie Pajama Debate

When they were newborns, they were always in fleece footie pajamas if we went out. THey were born in the dead of winter, and it was a very cold winter!

Now, they are for sleeping. Or if we just hang around the house on a rainy day.

Sleeping only Chat Icon We are high maintenance here. Very rarely will she wear them during the day-only if no one is getting dressed or if we are sick.

I love them. Pants hurt my DS tummy... so he's in layettes most of the time (fancy name for footie pjs).

I'll probably do overalls next.

Re: The Great Footie Pajama Debate

For me up to about six months old, PJ's are fine whenever except fancier occassions. I do change her often to go to other people's houses and stuff but a quick trip to the store does not warrant an outfit change.

DD spent the first few months in PJs Chat Icon. Easy to get on and off with ALL those diaper changes, no hassle with socks that always come off and disappear, and comfy for DD. I used to think people would think I was a lazy mom when she went to all her drs appts like that, but I noticed a lot people doing it too.

Shoot, if I could wear jammies all day I would! Chat Icon

Same here! I basically used them daily from October to February.

Re: The Great Footie Pajama Debate

DD wore them all the time when I had to bring my older DD to school. It was just easier then trying to get 2 kids dressed.

Now that she is a little older, I dress her in the cute outfits that she has. But I'm not opposed to bring her out in her jammies if I have to.

For the first 3 months, DD1 pretty much lived in them. I see the same happening for DD2, as the weather is much cooler now. It's so much easier, and to get her all dressed in an "outfit," just for formula to leak all over it, or for her to spit up on it doesn't make sense to me.

Re: The Great Footie Pajama Debate

I chose

Sleeping, and hanging around the house

but DS was born in June, so by the time the cold weather hit it was a bit easier to do socks.

Re: The Great Footie Pajama Debate

I was famous for that on LIF. Seriously, there was a quiz about some of the moms and there was a question about which mom is obsessed with one piece outfits. It was not so much because of the feet but I loved the one piece outfits. I changed him many times a day but I changed him into a new one piece outfit. I kept buying more & more of them. Pants just fell off of him anyway. For his first summer we had a ton of one piece short outfits. My kid is now a normal kid who wears jeans so I don't think I did him any harm!!!!!!!!

DS stays in them until after his morning nap and then we change him in to regular clothes. On occasion, if we go out to breakfast on the weekend, he will stay in his pj's. I see no big deal with wearing them all day though! They're babies and they look so cute in them Chat Icon

Re: The Great Footie Pajama Debate

Liv only wears them to bed. In the AM, after her breakfast, we change her into an "outfit". Even if we are staying home all day.

They are for sleep only.
I know it doesn't make a difference now (and who knows if it will in a few months), but I want DS to know the difference between day clothes and night clothes, that way, in a few months, he will know that when the feety pajamas come out it's almost bed time.

Funny you say this because this was my exact reasoning to DH when I was doing this (although the first couple of weeks, she would be in fancy sleep and plays, but always changed before bed).

Now at 7 months, it is a part of her bedtime routine and helps her unwind!

Re: The Great Footie Pajama Debate

I'm weird like this but in order for me to function properly, I need DS and I to be up and ready for the day. . .if we are laying around the house that day he just gets put in sweats and a t-shirt but to me pajamas are for bedtime but only b/c I feel like my day can't start until we are all set and ready to go (even if we aren't "going" anywhere). . .am I making sense here Chat Icon

Re: The Great Footie Pajama Debate

I only put them on DS for sleeping or lounging around the house. By noon I like to have him dressed in something else, usually a sleep and play outfit or long sleeve onesie w/ pants set. If we go out I dress him, otherwise he'll never get to wear all these freaking clothes I've been buying him!!!

Re: The Great Footie Pajama Debate

DS lived in the Sleep and Plays for the first 10 months or so. Even now, I'll keep him in PJs all day if we aren't going out (and sometimes when we are, though only if I am not putting on his shoes).

I never even thought to bring Lily out in her pajamas when she was a baby. She was always dressed. But she was like my little doll and I loved dressing her up. She was a good sport.Chat Icon

Mostly for sleeping, but I have taken him to the doctor in them when he wasn't feeling well. When he was very little and I was on ML I would sometimes put him in them to hang around the house.

Re: The Great Footie Pajama Debate

They're called "sleep and play" aren't they? Chat Icon We went out with them on frequently for the first few months. But Tristan seemed to age quickly and just seemed too old for them around 6 months or so. But they were great in the winter.
