Who will take of baby after it is born?
We aren't TTC yet but we are trying to figure out to balance work and caring for an infant/ toddler. It got me wondering what everyone else is doing?

We had planned for LO to be watched by a good friend who stays home with her son, as a benefit to both of us. But MIL just informed me she wanted to retire and watch our kids, so we'll see.

I would like to stay home for a year or two. Then daycare, maybe some days with my mom or MIL...I guess we will see how it works out

We are hoping I can be a SAHM, but if not then DH and his family will help watch our LO. We will use daycare if there are days no one can watch...

At this point I have no idea! 
I am really hoping my MIL will though. I overheard her telling someone on the phone that she plans on retiring next year so we will see!

I have no idea! Honestly I make really good $$ and I dont want to struggle. If I stop working for a few years, I wont be able to go back to my industry which is constantly changing. I may try to work 4 days a week. We dont have any family that can watch a baby for us. I think there may be some neighborhood people and if I have to do day care I may consider working 3 days a week. Not that my career is family or women friendly but I am really hoping I can go part-time.

i wish it would be me!! but i most likely can not quit my job, and really neither can dh, and honestly i have no idea! hopefully a family member can, but not sure i have any that will be able to at the moment..

I wish I could be a SAHM but thats not going to happen. Im hoping my parents can come stay with me for a little while but after that it will be daycare.

I want to be the one home raising a LO but I love working and I like my job. If one of us stayed home, I think it would be DH. He's just better at the domestic stuff than I am..

DH will be home 2-3 days/week. my MIL has offered in advance to stay with a baby 2 days/week. i'll have summers and vacations. if we have to use day care once a week, there are plenty of in-home sitters that come highly recommended by the teachers i work with and are right by my school for easy p/u & drop off.
now if i could just get PG...

I would love to be a SAHM but financially we cant do it  If DH gets the promotion in the next year or two that we are hoping for than I could probably work part time, just so we have a little extra each month!
Until then my ideal game plan is to work from home 2 days a week to stay w/LO. DH is home 2-3 days out of the week so when I'm at the office he will watch LO. We also plan to find a baby sitter to watch LO on the rare times that we are both at work.

no idea! we are a little too far from family members to have them watch them....but if we did get preggs we would prob move a little closer. Maybe FMIL could watch them?! We haven't figured it out yet.

I beg DH to be a SAHM but financially we can't cut it. I will be leaving one of DC with my mother and one with my MIL who is retiring in February. Hopefully Reilly will be potty trained before I go back to work and I can get her into a pre-k program 2 days a week.

I'll be working F/T and DH will watch the baby on his days off (he has a rotating schedule) when we are both working, then at daycare or at my sisters...

i could have written this almost verbatim, though I will say that MIL thinks she is watching her kid, but i'm against it because I think she will be too old to handle a baby 5 days a week. but i'm also hoping for a 4-day work week, but only if i get to keep my benefits, which are amazing.

I hate the thought of this. This is going to be a HUGE issue for me. Ideally I would love to be a SAHM or I would love for DH to be a SAHD but, financially we can't cut it.
My family lives 3000 miles away!!! So, I would hope (beg and pleed) for my Mom to stay with us for at least 6-8 months so she can stay home with the baby before I have to put  in daycare.
DH's family is very small and besides, they all work FT. His parents are gone so, I have no options there.

I really wish I could be a SAHM mom but it will just benefit us more if I continue to work. I want to be able to contribute and avoid having to struggle. When the time comes I am going to look into possibly working P/T if it is available, if not I will work F/T and DH will watch the baby on his days off. He has a rotating schedule and is usually off at least 3 days a week and on some days he doesnt have to be in until the evening. On the day when both of us work there is plenty of family that is home and willing to watch the baby. I have my aunt and uncle and my mom, dad, brother and sister. It makes me feel a little better knowing the majority of the time the baby will be with DH so at least one of us will be raising the baby and it wont totally be up to family.

We both work and both of us always will. Unfortunately both our mom's do not want to be full time or really part time babysitters, they both feel like they already raised their kids. I know our parents would help out in a crunch, but not on a regular basis.
We will either find a babysitter or send our children to day care.... and the cost of the completely freaks me out. I guess we will be cutting back on alot of stuff when the time comes.

I checked that I'll be a SAHM in the interest of positive thinking. I will def take two years and then I'll have to decide if I want to resign from my job...unless I have another by then. I'd really like to stay home until all of my kids have started school and then find a job closer to home. It's tough to give up a great job and salary though!
