Mine is cheerios Chat Icon

Tonight I made DS organic beef with cheese on (glorified cheeseburger Chat Icon) He only wanted 3 bites, 4 pieces of cheese and 1/2 banana. I guess fruit is my other backup.

Yogurt. I know that when he won't eat ANYTHING I can grab a yobaby and he'll eat that. Fruit is AlWAYS a green light, but I try not to be overly reliant on it, his fruit poops are Chat Icon mind-blowing. Seriously, like a science experiment Chat Icon Chat Icon

Guess I am the mean Mom, there is NO backup. Either you eat what is put in front of you, or you don't eat. My girls, know that there are no options and they are both awesome eaters.

She can only have Cheerios with milk if she chooses not to eat dinner. Dessert is fruit only on those nights- she gets something "fun" (like brownie or ice cream) on nights that she eats what we're eating.

DS rarely wants anything to do with meat - he'll eat any veggie under the sun, but he doesn't like meat.

Can I ask how old your DC are? And did you always do this even when they were under 2? I want to be like this but I'm afraid DS won't eat and he's already a little underweight.

Ditto, no backups. This is how I was raised as well.

My kids are 2 and 9 and yes, I did it from the very beginning. That way they never knew any different and never really gave me a hard time. My girls certainly have things that they do not "love"(not a lot though) but know that they are required to eat a certain amount of it.

The way I see it is, if they know that there is a "backup" why would they eat something that they only kinda like. I see zero incentive to try new things or have foods grow on you.
