Spinoff to breastfeeding at the dinner table (breastfeeding in a restaurant)
What are your opinions about breastfeeding in a restaurant? DH and I had this convo a while ago while we were out and I mentioned that is DS gets hungry I will just feed him and use the cover. DH mentioned that I should ask the waitress if it was okay. I immediately told him this was ridiculous, why should I have to ASK them if I can feed my baby? He agreed with me but stated that the restaurant might have the right to ask me to leave if I was feeding DS. What do you think about this? Do they really have the right? and if so do you think a restauran ould actually have the balls to ask someone to leave??
I have yet to HAVE to feed DS while out at a restaurant...but that conversation made me feel a little more uncomfortable about it. What does everyone else think?

I have nursed DD and I was always very modest about it so you couldn't tell what I was doing. It really looked like I was trying to put her to sleep.

1. You don't have to ask permission 2. They absolutely can NOT ask you to leave

As long as you are discreet, I doubt they would ever ask you to leave, nor can they.
I would not ask permission. Its your right.

Re: Spinoff to breastfeeding at the dinner table (breastfeeding in a restaurant)
Ditto on both replies.
I've been nursing DS while our order was taken and when they came back with drinks or food and theirs a baby at the table, the waiter was like, where did he come from?! Which I never get because what did they think, I was getting ready to have the lobster with my blue and brown polka dot giant bib!?
I've nursed DS in lots of restaurants with a cover or blanket, right at the table, in my seat, fancy, casual, booth or table, with DH, family or friends. No one has ever had a problem or expressed discomfort.

Ive done it several time, of course with a cover! Ive never had anyone say anything to me. You NEVER have to ask if its ok to feed your baby!

LOL, i had something similar where I was nursing DS under the cover when our food came- I asked the waiter for another plate so I could cover my food and keep it warm. He brought over a salad plate- had no clue I was nursing and couldn't use both my hands to eat.
I would never ask a waiter/ress for permission- I think they would be caught off gaurd and probably feel awkward telling you whether your allowed to feed your child or not. It's not their call- baby needs to eat!

So do I!! I've done it- as long as you're discreet, they can't possibly legally ask you to leave!

I definitely do not think you need to ask permission to feed your child!! I've done it (discreetly, under the booth with a cover) and would definitely cause a scene if anyone asked me to leave!

I frequently nursed in restaurants with my cover. I never asked permission, and was never asked to leave. I don't think most people had any clue as to what I was doing.

Okay, just wanted to make sure I wasnt the only one who thought it was crazy to actually ask, lol. I dont think my DH really realized what he was saying at the time bc it was all so new to him.
