Spinoff to rude or not, what have you actually done?

When looking at homes, I was weirded out by touching anyone else's stuff. I even felt guilty looking inside closets, so unless a realtor opened them, I never peaked.

but my DH had to use the bathroom once. the home was owned by owners who were out of state but some of their stuff was still in the house. I was sooo mad at DH! we were litterally 10 mins from home. but the realtor would have had to wait around. either way we should have gone home!

so what have you done/used/touched/sat on lol

I used the bathroom once and felt so weird about it! Nobody was living in the house and I just had to pee! We had 3 more houses to see otherwise I would have waited! lol

The most we did was open closets and the pantry. Nothing too crazy.

We took pictures of every house we saw unless it was something that we obviously wouldn't consider. I always asked first and only one realtor said no.

I posted about that here once and someone was surprised. I have a terrible memory for things, so I depended on the pics and in some cases, noticed things that I didn't see the first time.

we definitely peeked in closets and cupboards- it was hard to tell what you were buying otherwise

I did use a bathroom once but the home owner was there and I asked if it was ok.

i took TONS of photos and video. i never took photos when homeowners were there though but we saw mostly short sales so most of the homes were vacant. we also were looking out of state and cramming houses into a weekend so we needed a way to remember them.

i have videos and pics of our house and it's crazy to see it before it was ours!

i used the toilets too ...and we looked in closets, garages, etc....it's a lot easier when the homeowners are not there - we only saw about 3 homes where the owners were home when we were looking, the other handful of houses we saw that were occupied the owners were out which made it easier. the others were vacant - i liked those best b/c i didn't feel uncomfortable at all.

I used the bathroom sometimes. Hey- most of the time we'd hit 4 or 5 open houses in one day, all 30 minutes from where we lived, and we'd be gone for hours. Sometimes you just gotta go!

In one house we wanted to make an offer on, our realtor had us sit in their "sitting area" to call wells for a mortgage quote. Felt weird to me, but the realtor made me do it!!

I didn't feel guilty doing anything, but I stayed respectful. It was the biggest purchase of our lives to date, so I wanted to make sure all things were in working order.

I actually took pictures of houses too but never when the owners were home, so of course I don't have a single pic of my house before because the crazy people were always following us every step we took in the house

I once used a bathroom and felt weird about it But what are you gonna do? We were going around all afternoon with the agent... when you gotta go, you gotta go!

The only house I saw where the owners were there was the one we bought - and that didn't stop me from taking pics! They actually moved at one point so I could take a picture of the back deck.

I wasn't going to let that stop me because they chose to hang around. And look what happened... we bought it. It's really funny now for me to look at the pictures of when someone else owned MY house.

I've opened all closets, but I think that is very important as I wanted to see how much storage space was available. I would expect potential buyers in my home to do the same.

I DIDN'T open any cabinets in the kitchen and I regret that as my current kitchen looked nice but is falling apart. Moving forward I always open the cabinets to make sure they're in good shape.

I've also asked the HO or realtor if I could turn on the shower. Water pressure is VERY important to me and they've always said it was ok.

I opened the fridge b/c I thought the house looked "staged" and that no one was really living there but they wanted to make it look like they were.

So, between nothing being inside the frigde and the closet having just a few items of off season clothes in it I def. knew that no one was living there -- which helps give you an idea that they might be motivated.

We would always go in closets and built-in cabinets, they are a major selling point of the house. We couldn't look in the fridge in our house, it didnt have one, but I would check that out too, I would get an idea of how clean the people were.
