What's your opinion on traveling to the Caribbean at the end of October?

I would go - but get good travel insurance right away that will cover you IF there is a problem or has cancel for any reason. I have traveled on cruises in the Caribbean in both August (2 times) and in November. There were hurricanes around but nothing that interfered with our trip. It is a gamble - but if you don't mind the risk - I would go if you get a good price.

Where are you thinking - places like Aruba might be less at risk than say going to a place like San Juan etc.

You might want to consider a cruise rather than an island - b.c if there is a hurricane as long as it can leave port it will just change the itinerary rather than cancel the trip entirely.

Thanks. Yes we would definitely get the insurance. We were thinking St. Thomas actually but are not set on it. We've been to Aruba so we'd like to try somewhere new.

We travel to the Carribean every September for our anniversary. Knock on wood, it hasn't been an issue yet. As long as you get insurance, you're fine. When I book with Travel Tom I get "cancel for ANY reason" insurance, so I don't have to worry about a thing. The deals are too great to pass up because of the possibility of a hurricane.

we went to the carribean in late October a couple of years ago and it was a great trip but the weather wasnt the best. We went to 4 islands, 1st had great weather, 2nd was good but it rained on and off for a couple of minutes each time, 3rd was overcast and the 4th port that I was looking forward to the most (Turks and Caicos) was totally rained out, the weather was stormy and the boat was very rocky. So, while it was a good cruise, im not sure we would go back in october.

We have been to the Caribbean for the last few years for our Anniversary in the middle of October - Cancun, The Bahamas and Barbados. This year we are going to St. Lucia. We make sure to take insurance, but we take that for every trip either way. Cancun was very wet but it had been a wet season. The Bahamas was perfect and we had one quick shower in Barbados last year on our first day.

We avoided the Caribbean for our HM and ended up going to Cabo, which I didn't love, so we have no hesitation in going to the Islands now.

We went to Mexico for our honeymoon 11/1-11/8 of last year (to EPM) and it was horrible! It poured every single day except the first day!
