Pool Owners : re chemicals and little girls

I've never had a pool so I'm clueless about the chemicals used.

My ex has a pool. The girls mentioned to me that the pool irritates their V-jay. They said that they mentioned this to their father last season but he ignored them and said he has to put so much in or else everyone would get sick.

I need to handle this correctly with him or he won't fix the issue. (If it can be fixed) Are there certain chemicals that he should be using instead? Is he over treating the pool? Does anyone have experience with their daughters with this type of issue?

I know he's going to brush this under the rug and tell me that the girls are being silly. But we swim in a lot of pools and they said that this is the only pool that does this to them.

He may be putting too much chlorine in the water. I have pool and it has never been a problem for me or DD.

I have had a pool all my life and never had a problem with the pool irritating me. Now if he lets them sit in their wet bathing suits that can cause irritation.
As for chemicals find out if it is mineral, chlorine or salt. I have always had a chlorine pool. He may have a different kind and they may be allergic to the minerals used. My ds has eczema outbreaks after he swims in my dads pool. My dad uses the frog system and it has minerals in it. We have to limit his contact or the poor kid gets a mess. Now a chlorine pool he has no issues with.

Personally I think they need to sneak some itching powder in his swim trunks so he knows how it feels

You could always say the Ped suggested the chemical test strips.

Do you know if your Ex adds the chlorine in the morning before the girls go in the pool, or at the end of the day?

My parents always put the chlorine in at the end of the day, when all the kids are out of the pool, so it doesn't bother anyone during the day. I have a feeling that suggesting this to your Ex is a lost cause though.

Somewhat off topic, but I have to say that is so great that your daughters have each other to talk to about these things. If they both think something is wrong, then they can go to you with more confidence when they mention it to you. I would imagine that many young girls would be uncertain about a lot of things, and wouldn't share as much with their mothers. They trust thier instincts, each other, and you. You have lovely daughters, and you're doing a great job keeping the lines of communication open.

I didn't read the above post, but every time I went into the pool as a kid, I always rinsed off with the hose water to get all the chemical/chlorine off. I'm allergic to bleach

Sounds like too much chlorine. It has to be measured correctly. I grew up in a pool and was a very sensitive child...but n ever had that issue. It can burn your eyes if it's too strong (or even if it's not) but there, never had that issue.
