Highlights

I have been getting my hair highlighted for years, over the last 7 months i have been going to someone new, and i noticed everytime i leave i LOVE the color she does but I dont feel like she gets close enough to my root line with the color, (i have never have had this problem before) I leave there and when I pull my hair back you still see alot of the root, and now 3 weeks later its soooooo noticable, anyway should i just find someone new or next time when i go back ask her to do it closer ?????

Re: Highlights

I would def ask her to get closer. My hair is highlighted and my colorist gets unbelievably close (my roots are so dark that it would be obvious if she didn't). I can't see any root when I leave the salon. My colorist does it by hand but I've seen some colorists use a board to get closer to the scalp... maybe your colorist needs to use a board?

Or maybe she is just trying to be quick about it... It takes time to get closer to the root without getting it on the scalp so they have to apply it more carefully. Maybe she's just trying to rush... if you say something she might slow down and get closer.

I would bring it to her attention and see if she fixes it the next time she doesn your hair. If not then maybe also get your roots dyed a lighter or get a touchup on the roots while she is highlighting your hair. Then if none of that works...find someone else lol. I had this happen to me once when I tried a new stylist. Needless to say I never went back to them
