I would love to go to Africa this summer! Has anyone done a safari?

I would like for it to be as affordable as possible. I have found great prices with United Travel Group. With them it is doable for approx. 7k. I would like for it to be under 10. Who are they using?
Any insight would be helpful! We can go anytime in August!

I went on a safari in Botswana - it was AMAZING - and I totally recommend where we went (Chobe National Park). We used Rhino Africa out of Cape Town - we gave them a fairly low budget and they worked with it, amazingly. I have some posts about safaris on my blog if you're interested!

Our summer is Africa's winter and the best time to go b/c its the dry season and the animals are migrating to water and easier to track. Masai Mara in Kenya is probably the best place to go if you can...I want to go there next!

They are using Micado but it's costing them a boat load. About 20k

I have a point & shoot (Canon PowerShot Elph)...I really want a better/nicer camera but can't stand carrying around a big one!

I went to Tanzania on my honeymoon. If you go to East Africa, please please please find out where the Great Migration is and make sure you stay close to there. They migrate through Tanzania (Serengeti) and Kenya (Masa Mari), so you want to make sure you are in the right place.
One tour operator tried to put us about 3 hours north of where the migration was .. so it is important to do your research AND have a travel agent that absolutely knows the area you want to see. Otherwise you can end up not seeing what you want to see.
I have tons of information and advice on the area if you are interested in E Africa. Just FM me and I will give you everything I have.

I have done several but they were not budget (20-30K per trip). We did South Africa (Royal Malewane), Tanzania (Serengeti under Canvas and Mnemba), Rwanda for a gorilla trek, and India (Oberoi Ranthambore) for a tiger safari. FM me if you have any questions. I should add that we did a private tour (just the two of us) and most of the trips included chartered planes which significantly increase the cost.
