I am suprised that the Dr. is so negative. Your #'s are doubling every 2.5 days as oppsed to every 2 days, and that can be perfectly normal. The beta hCG may take more than 2 to 3 days to double in 15% of normal intrauterine pregnancies.

I don't want to get your hopes up but that was my first thought too. I really don't see that as a bad rise. The sono will tell the story so just hang in there but I know how hard that is

They said by 5w2d pregnant my hcG #'s should already be over 1000. They really didn't sound hopeful at all. Thanks for the site though. I did check it out.
Thank you everyone for the replies. I want to say I am hopeful still but I can't. I know anything can happen, and maybe a miracle will, but for now I am preparing myself for the worst at this point.

Thank you everyone for the replies. I want to say I am hopeful still but I can't. I know anything can happen, and maybe a miracle will, but for now I am preparing myself for the worst at this point.
If that is the case, then I may as week give up too, because I am 4 weeks 6 days and my last beta was only 81 on Friday.
Kristen, if this was anyone else, you would be the 1st one to point out that a 60% rise is still good, and yours is better than that. A healthy pregnancy beta double every 48-72 hrs. You are in that time frame. You said yourself that you would be happy to see the #'s in the 200's. Yours are not far off.
I am not writing this to give you false hope, but just to remind you not to lose hope either. Sometimes the mind can be a powerful thing, so try to keep your thoughts as positive as possible. I KNOW how hard and scary this is right now, please just hang in there.

You're right and thank you! I am happy with the rise and when she first gave me the number I was so excited. I even said to her, "Oh good! Thank god!". She quickly said to me it's not good and honestly, if she were not so grim sounding I wouldn't be so upset.
I know anything can happen though and there is a tiny little part of me that is holding out hope they are totally wrong. I am happy they are doing a sono because if they at least see something maybe then the hcG #'s won't seem so bad. Also, for my own peace of mind they can rule out an ectopic.
Thanks again for what you said. You're totally right and I appreciate you pointing out the positive too! I hope that things work out.

They basically said they wanted to see the hcG numbers a lot higher by this point and that they want to do a sono and another beta to confirm but it doesn't seem like it's a viable pregnancy. I guess we don't know 100% for sure yet. What happens next will really hinge upon what we see at the sono. With my DD at 5w5d we saw the gestational sac and at 6w5d we saw her so if we see a sac on Friday I would like to wait it out another week and see what develops if anything. Time will tell.

what? my hcg was 126 at 5weeks...and now I am 12 weeks and everything is great! I think you should let it be and see what happens...can you get a 2nd opinion? dont give up!!

WOW!! That's actually encouraging and good to hear!! Well we're having the sonogram on Friday so that should really give us a little more information. If we see a gestational sac and my hcG is still steadily increasing, my progesterone is still fine, and I am not bleeding or spotting then I don't see any reason to do anything more than wait it out and see what happens in another week. When I was pregnant with my DD at 5w5d we saw just the sac, at 6w5d we saw her, and at 7w5d we saw and heard her HB.
So really everything hinges upon what we learn on Friday. I don't know why thy are so hung up on the actual #. It was my understanding the actual number itself isn't as important as the rate of rising and mine seems to be rising ok now. I don't know. I am sure they probably know better than me but I am not going to make any rash decisions about the future of this pregnancy until we know 100% without a doubt it's not viable. As long as there is even a small chance that things can be fine then we are hanging in there.

How frustrating! I can't even imagine what your going through...they are too hung up on your levels I think...maybe your earlier then 5 weeks? you could of had a late implanter. There are so many possibilities, just stay posistve and see what happens on Friday.

25 - 40 weeks LMP: 3,640 - 117,000 mIU/ml
Non-pregnant females: <5.0 mIU/ml
Postmenopausal females: <9.5 mIU/ml
