If your parents or in-laws watch your DC full time while you're at work...
Do you also occasionally ask them to watch the baby on the weekend?
I know my IL's would do it, but I feel so bad asking them since they watch her full time every day during the week! We have a b-day party in 3 weeks on a sat night, do you think we should ask them or try to find someone else? They would have to come to our house since it would be around her bedtime. We have other family, but they also have young kids and most of our friends who always offer will be at this party.
DH seems to have no problem with asking them but I just feel bad since sat and sun are their "days off" ya know? And I know they wouldn't say no.

My parents watch DD all week but they are the only ones we trust and have close enough to babysit.
We try not to abuse the favor but we have asked them on the weekend. Usually Friday nights they go out to dinner with my aunt and uncle but unless they have other plans, they are more than willing to watch DD.

Never. I promised my mom I would only ever use her the 3 days a week I need to go into the office. She offered when I had a funeral for a good friend's mother, but DH stayed home instead w/ DS. I will never use her for a date night, party, hair appt, movie, or dinner. I just don't want to abuse her--she does so much watching DS 3 days a week.

MIL watches DD for 11 hours each day M-F, and if we need to do something on the weekends, we do not hesitate to ask. usually it's only for a couple of hours, and MIL loves spending time w/ DD, even when she wants a day off. sometimes we feel guilty, but if MIL really had a problem with it she would def let us know.

No i wouldn't. I never was okay with asking them to do anything extra. Especially since they watch my ds and my nephew. They always have at least 1 kid. So we never ask. I know they would if we asked and without question, but we don't. They need a break too.
My good friend usually babysits for us and if she didn't... i'd find someone else.
Have you thought about finding a regular babysitter for the weekends or any special nights?

my mom watches my kids when i work. she also loves to have them for sleepovers on the weekend. she would watch them 24/7 if she could!
i think it really depends on the person. i know my mom would tell me if she needs a break, but i can't see that ever happening.

We don't go out a lot at all but when we do yes we ask the grandparents and they're more than happy to do it.

absolutely. My mom watches my kids during the week while we are at work. But occasionally things come up on the weekend and we need a sitter. We change it up between the in-laws and my mom depending on where we're going and how long it's going to be for. And anytime the kids need to stay over night it's with my mom.

yep we always ask inlaws, but we always bring DS there. he has a pack and play where he sleeps. if we will be home late, he spends the night there.

On the rare occasions that we need a babysitter, we'll ask MIL (who watches DD 3 days/week)....I've never felt bad about it, she loves to help and of course we're very appreciative of her!
If my mom lived in the area, we'd ask her too. In fact, my MIL and my mom are the only ones who really babysit DD if we need someone at night/weekends. If it's an event (wedding, etc) that we know about in advance, I tell my mom and she'll come down to visit for the weekend....otherwise MIL will watch her.

My mother watches my DS during the week and I will only ask her to watch him on a weekend if we are in dire circumstances when we have NO ONE Else!

Yes but we bring them there for a sleepover. FIL doesn't get to see the kids at all during the week because MIL watches them at our house. They love to have them overnight so FIL can see them and MIL's sister lives across the street so she gets to see them too.

My ILs watch Kaydyn M-F. If we have something to do on the weekends or weeknights we try to ask other family members. We don't go out all that often so it's generally not an issue but I feel extremely guilty asking my ILs to watch her when they watch her all week long.
We're all going on a family vacation in August and DH and I have gotten in a few disagreements about having my ILs or my mom watch both DDs so that we can have some couple time on our vacation. I feel like it's one of the few breaks they get and I don't want to then ask them to watch both our daughters. I know they don't mind, but it's just my issue I guess.

My mom (and dad too) watch DS M-F for me. I really try not to ask her to watch him at all on the weekends.
It has to be something really important for me to ask, and I'd give her plenty of notice - like for a wedding we have in June.
My mom has 7 other grandkids, and the weekends are usually booked up with things for them and for her own personal errands and stuff.
