BEYOND THE RAINBOW
As much as I loved the life we had and all the times we played,
I was so very tired and knew my time on earth would fade
I saw a wondrous image then of a place that's trouble-free
Where all of us can meet again to spend eternity.
I saw the most beautiful Rainbow, an on the other side
Where meadows rich and beautiful - lush and green and wide
And running through the meadows as far as the eye could see
Were animals of every sort as healthy as could be
My own tired, failing body was fresh and healed and new
And I wanted to go run with them, but I had something left to do
I needed to reach out to you, to tell you I'm alright
That this place is truly wonderful, then a bright glow pierced the night
"Twas the glow of many candles, shining bright and strong and bold
And I knew then that it held your love in it's brilliant shades of gold.
For although we may not be together in the way we used to be
We are still connected by a cord no one can see
So whenever you need to find me, we're never far apart
If you look beyond the Rainbow and listen with your heart

So sorry for your loss!!! I know how difficult it is losing a pet. My only dog left has been sick for the last month and I worry so much about losing her.

Your story was so touching- I'm sitting here crying at work after reading it.
I know how hard it was for you to make the decision to put her to sleep- at least you can find comfort in the fact that you didn't have to.
Hang in there- only time can make it better.
Know you did the right thing to make her last days loving and comfortable.

My husband and I are sitting here crying as we read this - BOTH of us, crying. I can't believe how sad that is - you must be going through such a hard time right now. Don't be upset with yourself about what happened at the end - you were there for her no matter what. She passed at home, comfortable, in bed. What happened is tragic and sad no matter what - but, at least, it happened peacefully the way that it did. I'll be praying for you! It's going to be really tough because you will miss her so much and it will get harder as time goes on. Hang in there!!

I am so sorry. Your description of what happened is very touching and peaceful. I'm getting choked up just thinking about it.
Do not even question yourself for a second - she knew exactly how much she meant to you and I'm sure you meant just as much to her. It was a huge comfort for her that you both were there with her all night and there for her last breath. I'm so sorry again.
