Gagging on only one food?

James did fine with oatmeal, rice, barley (before he developed allergies to them), peas, prunes and sweet potatoes.

We tried green beans last night and he gagged several times. Does he just hate them THAT much? The sitter tried this morning and he gagged as well. He did manage to get a few spoonfuls down both times. He never gagged with any of the other foods. Chat Icon

Should we keep feeding them to him? Chat Icon

I saw the picture and by the look on his face I'd say he just hates it. If he doesn't like it I wouldn't continue giving it to him... switch to something he likes and has had for the rest of the 3 day or whatever rule you are following then start something new.

Re: Gagging on only one food?

I never saw the pic, but I know what the "gag" face looks like. Very familiar with it. Mason just loves making that face Chat Icon

Def stop feeding him and switch to something else. Also give small spoonfuls. I give Mas a teeny bit now till he gets used to the taste and texture. When I see he's doing ok with it then I give him bigger spoonfuls (or it'll take forever to feed him).

When Mas likes something he goes "Mmmmmm" and his face lights up. I can't feed him fast enough to please the kid

E - check out the pics I put on FB last night Chat Icon

I'll definitely stop and try something else - think mixing the beans with some apple sauce will help? Chat Icon

Tommy gags on peas...

Anything else he is usually fine. I guess peas gross him out!

Re: Gagging on only one food?

haha I loved the pic at the end before "the cleanup" Chat Icon

i bet he really does just hate the taste that much!! we havent doen green beans yet but do they have a different consistancy?! maybe that could be it!? Sophie loves squash, but they have a litttle bit of a different consistancy too, more "stringy" is the only way I can describe it.
