Dr. Oz says no mineral foundation
according to dr. oz, mineral powder foundations (which i really love) are dangerous to our lungs. therefore, if you use it like i do, we should switch to a liquid, pressed powder or a cream foundation. there in no evidence now but they feel in the yrs. ahead - woman will have problems from these particulars in the mineral powder which are chemicals that will go into our lungs. pass this on to anyone you know who uses mineral powder.......................also lip gloss, when you put that on your lips your actually eating some of that, and over the yrs. some of that petroleum jelly that is in the gloss and there is chemicals in that jelly, is being in jested and may be linked to cancer - look for lip gloss with bees wax in it instead.
I am heartbroken- Bare Essentuals was my favorite make-up ever... now I dont know what to switch to.

I dont know... You have to be breathing in a whole lotta mineral foundation for it to have an impact...

The city air & all those emissions that we are constantly breathing day after day is probably worse.

Ditto
I will continue to use my mineral foundation happily. I'm sure breathing in just the regular air is worse.

Booze is also very bad for your liver. However, I do not intend to go dry.
Life is full of things that will kill us. I'm sure the water supply has stuff that isn't great in it. The air around here can't be good from all the cars on the roads. Food contains so many chemicals and additives.
Unless you are working in the factory that makes the minerals 8 hours a day for years with no protection I think you'll be fine.
You only live once. Go for it!

Re: Dr. Oz says no mineral foundation
Would you believe I just STOPPED using these b/c I had a FEELING this would be the case???? I was thinking about how I don't use talc on my baby or baby powder on my baby and that was when I had the revelation about the Bare Minerals I was using!!! So I stopped. Can't believe he now comes out with this!!!

But...just as talc is linked to asthma in babies....I see the same thing with the mineral makeup and that is why I stopped using it.
If you notice when you use it, you see the powder fly into the air when you tap the brush. I have found traces of it on walls in my bathroom, when I dust, pretty far away from where I applied the powder too. So that had me concerned enough to stop using it. I think Dr. Oz is on to something here.

Re: Dr. Oz says no mineral foundation
I have to say after YEARS of using this stuff I have to wash down my bathroom even the walls and ceiling. The fan has to be taken down and washed too I have often wondered how my lungs are if my bathroom has it all over.....

that's my concern, how it travels so I am sure it can make it to my lungs and it can't be good.
I stopped a while ago b/c I was worried about this and now he said exactly what i was thinking.

I meant it in the way that we can add that to our list of things that can kill us...plus, I think Dr. Oz does get carried away.

Re: Dr. Oz says no mineral foundation
To be honest, I cannot see how there would not be some truth to this. You are exposing a foreign chemical substance inhaled into your lungs on a daily basis. I don't think we should all go throwing out all of our makeup as there are so many exposures on a daily basis and we can't live in a bubble. I would not totally write it off though.
