Ummmm....What??
I have my appt with my Dr next week b/c we've been TTC with no success.
So Im assuming (hoping) she will send me for the HSG...I just checked the place i usually go for sonos and stuff to see if they do the HSG and their website had a section on preparing for the test --- this is what it said:
HYSTEROSALPINGOGRAM
Appointment should be made 3-6 days after the end of the patient's menstrual period. No intercourse from the onset of menstrual period until the exam is complete. Purchase a Fleet Enema. An enema is taken the morning of the exam. Very light breakfast (coffee and toast) allowed morning prior to the exam.
ENEMA I've never heard anyone mention doing this before an HSG???
Please tell me this is not necessary!!! Has anyone gone to BAB Radiology for the HSG??

Re: Ummmm....What??
WOW!!!!!! I have never heard of anyone having to have an enema prior to the test. I had mine at 4pm and I ate a normal breakfast and I think a grilled cheese for lunch. I did stop all fluids after 1pm though just because I didn't want to get the urge to pee the min I got on the table.
I would double check with your dr to see if he/she finds it necessary to have one.

Oh wow! I've never heard of that either! I'd definitely check with your doc to make sure that is accurate info. Good luck!

Re: Ummmm....What??
i never heard of that either, I can understand why they would do that though. They probably do this so that you have (sorry) no bowel in the way on the Xray to see the tubes better. I guess they want the best picture they can get first time around.
